Is there a quality single stack and thin DA/SA semi-auto out there? Asking about 9mm

Wanting to stick with 9mm [9x19] only. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

If I could afford one, I really like the Sig P239 SAS. I think that may conceal pretty well. About as big as I would want to go.

Gotta go with this ole P239 (holster is a Don Hume OT721) for reliabilty, accuracy, comfortable carry and durability.

How big are the Bersa guns in 9mm? The Thunder Nine and the new one; I can't remember its name (the latter, I believe, is a poly-frame, and might be DAO.)

Okay, just an update. Went by my LGS this evening and the Sig P239 is too big. Almost the size of some double stack pistols. It's out. . . as is any others here that are as big.

I may just have to stick with one of the thin striker fire pistols or just stay with my lowly .380acp for carry.

Not interested in the 3rd gen S&Ws like the 3913? Single stack, metal, DA/SA.

If you can go with a striker fired pistol, see if you can find the M&P Shield.

Taurus 709? I know some people will dump on Taurus but I have also heard of people having them run fine. I have a Taurus revolver and it has worked fine and seems well built and good fit and finish.lifetime warranty too.

While it doesn't meet the DA/SA criteria, it does take two distinct actions for the 1st shot vs single action follow ups. take a look at H+K P7s.

I DO like the P7. I hear that they don't carry well in a holster, though, because they are handle heavy. Anyway, I like them.

Kel-Tec PF9. I will probably buy that once I get my CCW. Supposed to be the linnest and smallest 9MM.

If you want thin its really hard to beat the striker fired polymer guns like the Walther PPS (.91"), Kahr PM9 (.9") and the Ruger LC9 (.9"). Folk will cuss it, but the KelTec PF9 is probably the slimmest at .88" (EDIT: The Rohrbaugh R9S is .83")

Posted by Orion8472....it would depend on how thin they are.
How thin does it have to be? Can you shoot a pistol with a really thin grip well enough?

TOO thin, not really. I think I would be good with a PPS. It looks like there isn't a DA/SA pistol that thin, so why I decided that I'll just have to stick with striker fire pistols.

My number one choice is the eventual XDs in 9mm. I stated the reasons in the "9mm XDs" thread.

My vote goes to the S&W CS9. I own one and it's been one of the best guns I've ever owned. Mine came with the thick and bulky Hogue grips that some people love but I can't stand so I had Mr. G. over at GrifTac make me a set of grips and it's a huge improvement over the factory equipped Hogues.

You can find them here: http://griftac.com/home

I have a Ruger P95. Not often do I have to shoot the first shot in DA mode. When I draw I disable the decocker as soon as I touch the gun. Then I cock the hammer while drawing. The hammer will wear a blister on your thumb in a short period of practice.

If you don't mind hunting around a little, there is a Beretta 92 Compact Type M, which is the skinniest single-stack pistol that I've ever held. They're pretty hard to find, but they do come up once in a while on The Beretta Forum, where they have a cult following.

A little???? I've been looking for a loooong time.. Least your seeing them!

I know you're looking for DA/SA.

BUT, if you could find a way to live with SAO or DAO than I would recommend:

Sig P938 -SAO 9mm. TINY!
S&W Shield -DAO 9mm. Thin and so comfortable, but a little large for pocket carry.... which is why i have the P938

I'll chime in with another vote for the 3913, or something close (cs, ladysmith). Not only do they meet the criteria, but they are very reliable and eat almost anything. I have the DAO version (3953) myself.

Back in the day, Taurus made a gun called the 908 (possibly a nod to the budget 3rd gen S&W 39xx of the day, also called the 908); that gun received good reviews and shot reasonably well (my dad has one, and I borrowed it for a while for apartment duty back when they were new). At the time, they were hailed as compacts, but in a post-kahr/keltec/pps/shield world, that assessment is dated.

Spare mags for the 3913/908 (same mag) are going to be easier to find, however.

FWIW.
