Is there a quality single stack and thin DA/SA semi-auto out there? Asking about 9mm

A Browning BDM is about the thinnest double-stack 9 I've ever seen. Thin in the slide, and thin in the grips. DA/SA, and thinnner than a lot of compacts.

I DO like the P7. I hear that they don't carry well in a holster, though, because they are handle heavy. Anyway, I like them.

They carry fine in a holster. As with any gun, get a good gun belt. The Milt Sparks VM2 is popular for the P7, but I carry my P7 PSP in a cheap, ballistic nylon Uncle Mike's holster designed for a small auto. It works great.

I'm glad you fondled a Sig 239. I didn't like it either but I messed up and bought it with out holding it first. I won't do that again. It's a fine pistol and very accurate and reliable. However, it felt like a brick and very un-balanced. It was also quite heavy and much thicker than I wanted. I sold my 239 and used the funds to purchase a Kahr CW9. I was like you and wanted the DA/SA option but, I can't be happier with my Kahr after I tried it. You really should consider it. Before I bought my Kahr I did handle a Walther PPS too. It also was uncomfortable and off balance to me. It seemed "top heavy". It did meet the thickness requirement the OP is looking for though.

If the P239 is too thick, then I think you're going to have to reconsider your aversion to striker-fired pistols.

I've been mulling this over quite a bit since I'm trying to figure out the best gun for the wife. I think the best single-stack (and thin) 9mms out there are the Walther PPS and the S&W Shield. Of course, I love the G26, but that's about as wide as the P239.

IMO, the OP needs to find a holster, not a pistol. Many of the guns he is rejecting I could carry in my pocket very easy. When I first started carrying legal all the time, I had a hard time finding a small gun. Now I am used to a variety of holsters I can't find a gun that is big enough. Today I carried a Ruger Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel comfortably all day long. I was active helping a friend cut firewood for winter.

Are you going to shoot it or just carry it? In a decent holster/belt, the Sig will be your better shooter, while concealing quite well. If you can find a CS9, that will fit your criteria (I really regret selling mine). If you want reliability, but are not going to shoot much, the LC9/Kel Tec etc... would be lighter.

The 239 is my EDC and has several thousand rounds through it in last 9 months.
