Hello, I just acquired this rifle for 10 bucks but I'm having a hard time identifying it. I'm sure it's a Mauser but I don't know what it's chambered for - the bore is approximately 7mm but the action seems short for the 7 x 57.
Can anyone tell me where it's from and what it's called and possible value?
There are no markings anywhere on it, no crest or anything. Just a matching serial number on all parts...U8XXX
I posted more pictures further down the thread...

Looks like a mauser

Are there no markings or crest on the receiver?

I would not be surprised for it to be a 7 x 57mm, they were made all over heck and half of creation.

I'll give ya $50 for it...smile.

If you could get a picture of the reciever, or any markings on the gun I could possibly tell you more. This looks like a Mauser, however the barrel is custom or treated with something, to my knowledge a 19th or 20th century Mauser never came with any type of that color nickel or chrome, stainless metal on the barrel.

I have one that is similar to this, however mine is blued and has sights and I figured out its a 7x57mm caliber.

Stock looks like either a Mexican 7mm or a Swedish 6.5mm? Chopped up, of course. We need pics of the upper reciever top.

Looks Spanish to me. The somewhat smeared numbers on the bolt handle looks like most '93's 1916's or whatever it might be.

More Pics...

Looks like was a Spanish Mauser to me too, they were made in 7x57. They also modified a lot for 7.62x51.

It's a sanitized mauser! Obviously used by covert agents --well most likely Bubba's pet project. You got me on what it is but it is definitely a mauser. Someone has removed the visible identifiers like crest etc.

It's a Mauser. It's not Swedish. No checkered cocking piece.

Probably in 7x57, although I wouldn't fire it until I'd had a chamber cast made.

Looks like a Model 1895 Mauser to me.

7x57 was a common caliber for these but this gun has been modified so maybe the caliber has been changed..
