Here's a case where a man shot a youth when some will say he didn't have to, just like Trayvon Martin.

But this time they'll say, "He's only being charged because he's a miniority. If he was white, he wouldn't be charged, like George Zimmerman." (Although Zimmerman was mixed race hispanic/white)

We'll have to follow this case.

Florida Auto Dealer Owner Shot Teen Who Tried Stealing Car, Police Say

May 31,2014

By ABC NEWS via Good Morning America

A South Florida auto dealer is out of jail on bond after police accused him of shooting an alleged car thief in the stomach despite the teen's attempt to surrender.

The Broward Sheriff's Office arrested Jonas Charles after the incident on May 24. The owner of JC Best Auto Sales in Pompano Beach, Fla., was booked on an attempted murder charge.

"He became judge, jury and executioner. It's just not acceptable," Broward Sheriff Scott Israel said..

no similarity AT ALL to the Trayvon Martin case.

In the Trayvon Martin case it was a pure SD case.... the shooter lying on the ground, having his head beaten into the ground and shooting out of SD.

Chasing down teenage intruders, cornering one, shooting in the stomach and then running after the fleeing one and continue to shoot is hardly SD. Doesn't look good for the guy btw when the intruder ends up calling 911 and not the other way round....

Defending yourself from an attack - SD - or not retreating and SYG is one thing.... pursuing FLEEING intruders which no longer pose any danger to you or your property and keep shooting... not so much. Wonder how many stray bullets that guy send zooming thru the neighborhood

Do I believe this is what happened? Yes.

Is this what many other people believe happened? No.

Many people say that George Zimmerman was looking for trouble and basically hunted down Trayvon and caused a needless confrontation that was basically an ambush which led to a wannabe cop, aggressive, white male who was looking for a reason to shoot someone and he was able to do it to Trayvon Martin and then get away with it.

They'll say it has a lot of similarities to Trayvon Martin, even if it doesn't.

Zimmerman was not white

it doesn't matter what you or i believe... it matters what evidence you have and how that supports the SD claim.

in the trayvon martin case ... george had injuries from a fight/struggle ... AND a witness saw trayvon on top of george (via the color of the shirt).

in the recent case we have a 911 call by the intruder (!) and apparently someone saw the first kid "giving up" ....

the trayvon martin case could have ended a whole different if trayvon had called 911 while george was running after him and shooting his pistol....

This is NOTHING like the Martin/Zimmerman case if the kit was not attacking the car dealer.

Unquote.

If you truly believe the SD scenario as I do, why would one even voice the discredited and unreasonable version that SOME people believe. Don't add credibility by repeating the unproven.

On top of shooting a teen with his hands raised, while trying to surrender and begging, in front of witnesses, not to be shot, Charles initially denied even having a gun or shooting the teen, instead blaming one of his friends, but he eventually admitted to it, detectives said.

This guy is a black eye on the face of responsible gun owners. Dickhead vigilantes like him, trying to use SD as a half-azz excuse for revenge is just the image antis want to portray us as. I hope they throw the book at him.

What's this "we" stuff, Tonto?.....

I don't wish to follow or comment on every case or use of force incident in the media.
Some like to speculate or pontificate, on & on & on ....
Let's let the courts decide & adjudicate these events.

Please Heed This

Experience has shown us that there is little value in trying to reach conclusions about a use of force incident from news reports. Furthermore, as Rusty points out, none of us are charged with the duty of deicing the outcome.

Let us refrain from speculation, and limit further posts to relevant information as developments unfold.

Was the car dealer a loser wannabe cop like George Zimmerman, who engaged in a little "he's black so he must be guilty" mentality, ignored a police dispatcher's command to stay in his vehicle, and went looking for trouble, and got a life-changing dose of it?

No, not the same at all.

It's much closer to the Minnesota case, which ended badly for the mentally deranged legal gun owner, who will now spend the rest of his life in prison:

----------

"Byron Smith, the Minnesota man who fatally shot two teens after they broke into his home, was found guilty on all four counts of murder Tuesday afternoon, CBS Minnesota reports.

The jury deliberated for three hours before finding the 65-year-old guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder in the shooting deaths of cousins Haile Kifer, 18, and Nick Brady, 17, reports the station.

Smith claimed he shot in self-defense and was in fear for his life after several break-ins at his Little Falls home, but during closing statements Tuesday, a prosecutor said Smith intended to kill. A medical examiner found the two teens were shot a total of nine times after they broke into Smith's home on Thanksgiving Day in 2012..."

This is nothing like the Zimmerman/Martin case, so let's leave that out of the discussion and stick with the facts of this case as they are known.

You have no duty to pursue a criminal as a permit holder. You are not a cop. Once you are out of imminent threat of losing your life, you must stop, you cannot be the aggressor, only stop someone who is threatening your life or those around you..

Frankly, I don't see this thread going anywhere good. If (big if) any more facts are generated, PM me and we can see about re-opening the thread.
