So I bought a Taurus .327 from CDNN and the gun looks well made, locks up in battery tighter than my Cobra, and has a good double action trigger pull. The question I have is the B/C gap. I can barely get a .0015 feeler gauge blade in that gap. The cylinder turns smoothly and there is just a hint of friction on the face. Is it safe to shoot?

Seems to me, without any specific knowledge of the Taurus or the .327 cartridge, that .0015 might be tight. There should not be friction when cold and I suspect as the gun heats up with firing, you will experience binding.

I'd call the manufacturer, and maybe check with a Taurus specific support forum myself. I doubt it's dangerous but if you are uncomfortable its best to check with reliable sources.

From what I've read on the forums here a tight B/C gap on Taurus wheelies seems to be typical, and it'll lead to binding when hot.

Shoot it after a good cleaning and lubeing . I run my 3 dan wesson's at 1 to 2 th's with no issues. My 26 year old taurus 85ss is 2th's still.

This thread inspired me to check my 5 Rugers. They were all right around .005. I'm not sure what the Ideal b/c gap should be, but .0015 seems awfully tight. I had similar problem with a S&W; you could only shoot about 30 rounds before it would bind. I installed some endshake washers and brought it back to .006. It worked fine after that.

Try Taurus first, but don't hold your breath. My experience with them was not a positive one.

I know a S&W Model 10 should have .004 to .0010 thousandths and a Taurus 94 is .004 to .008
.0015 sounds big but really depends on the gun the only way to know for certain is to shoot it and see if it spits when you do.
My Model 10 is on the high side of the tolerance at .010 and shoots fine.

You left out a zero.
Never mind, looks like Sam caught it first.

That B/C gap sounds too tight and it may need a trip to Miami for a shave and haircut. Even .002 is kinda tight if you shoot lead slugs. I'm sure it will work out fine for you in the end. Keep us posted and let us know how it shoots.

Is it safe to shoot?

Yes, but not for long. Any B/C gap that is to tight will quickly bind up do to powder build up and expansion do to the heat generated by shooting. You have three (3) choices to fix this: 1- local gunsmith, 2- get a high quality file and remove .002 from the forcing cone yourself, 3- or send it to Taurus who may or may not fix the problem.

Check the gap with the cylinder push back and see if the gap changes. You can get shims if needed to shim the cyclinder to the rear . It may also depend on how much you shot at a section to get any build up. Don't put a file on the forceing cone. Ruger or taurus or s&w will not be pleased with you if you do that. Just shoot it and see how it goes first before desideing with it has to go back or if you add a 1th's shim or 2 your self.

Oy Vey, it's pareve if you're Yiddish--parve if Hebrew. Yes, keep the day job!! PLEASE keep the day job.

I think you have to say a shehakol blessing on it before shooting. And of course shehechianu the first time to shoot it.
Edit to add:
Sorry. I couldn't resist adding to the poor attempts at comedy. Mods, if you want to delete this posting as being off topic, go for it.

A lot of us have had the old binding problem with Tauri. Just keep an eye on it and if it binds up send it back to the factory for tweaking. They're very familiar with the issue. AFAIK it is not actually a safety issue. When my old .45 snub bound up it just stopped rotating.

No no, the proper blessing is:

"Schlemiel, schlemazel, Hasenfeffer incorporated!"

I'd much rather have a tight Taurus than a loose S&W that seems to be common nowadays. Like Onward said in the post above, shoot it a while and it'll likely loosen up just fine.
