in this picture you can see that the little pin in the back of the cynlinder is polishing a little trail in the frame. i'm hoping this doesn't turn into a groove. i have cheaper revolvers that this isn't happening to. is this normal for an sp101?
Normal. This is metal-on-metal contact. If you think it is TOO deep, there may be something out of spec. If things glide right along, as you close the cylinder, it should be normal.
Mine does the same thing. Hasn't affected functionality. Since this is my carry gun, and stainless, I'm not that terribly worried about such a cosmetic effect.
mine does it too. so does my j-frame. with metal on metal you will have some sort of a polish mark. as long as it is not a burred up gouge, dont worry. if it is, contact Ruger.
