Is this really a $12 knife?!

Nice to see some appreciation for a Swedish product.

I've owned plenty of knives in my life but 90% of the knives that I've actually used have been the Mora(and Frost) knives.

They work, and the steel is great. The tip might be a bit too pointy and sharp when working a deer but it can be done.

Boy do I hear that! I carry either a #1 Mora or a simple Jarvenpaaia puukko every single day. More recently, it's been the #1 over the puukko, simply because the puukko was $40, the #1 was $10! I own plenty of knives, from folders of all flavors to fixed blades of dozens of different lengths and uses, and I keep coming back to the Mora as my everyday knife.

Great working knives. :)

Just ordered a Clipper. New EDC knife hopefully, I'm trying something new with the fixed blade for EDC, tired of digging through my pocket for the folder.

The only Mora I own is the Scout Classic which costs a bit more than $10. I like them, but have plenty of knives already. So, why buy a bunch of Mora's just because they are inexpensive. They do make excellent low cost presents however.

The one knife that I buy a lot of are the Vic kitchen knives. My wife tends to destroy a knife about every 6 months in the kitchen prying something, so I quit keeping good knives in my kitchen that are handy. I keep at least 7 or 8 spares just in case.

Mora knives are great low cost knives. i also recommend Opinel knives and Rough Rider knives. they are absolutely good quality. my best friend has a Mora that had been given to her by her father that has been used for a lot of heavy chores. but it still shaves the hair off my arm. she always brings it fishing with us. i have 2 Opinels (one of witch i carried for about 3 years) and both still shave the hair off my arm. and last but not least i have a Rough Rider that practically lives in my jeans. it is the Congress knife from their moonshiner series. http://www.kinardskountry.com/servlet/the-71/Rough-Rider-Moonshiner-Congress/Detail i got mine for $20 from Smokey Mountain Knife Works. i swear that knife is the best $20 knife i have seen in my entire life. the fit and finish is absolutely flawless, it came hair splitting sharp, genuine dyed jigged bone handles, German silver bolsters, brass liners, really good back springs. i think it measures up to a case knife just fine. it came with a little pine barrel that i use for my change and a cute little 2 ounce flask that is exquisitely engraved but useless for drinking since it only holds a shot (and i am not 21) so i use it for black powder. it works well. and for such a modest price you need to get one. you will be so well pleased.

Many years ago, I bought a Mora number 1 with the laminated blade. That knife was such a great cutter, it phased out many of my more expensive knives. Between the mora's, Opinels, Douk-Douk's and and some other working class cutlery, I sold off my Randall and other customs. Just not as cost effective or as good slicers. There's a perverse pleasure to using a really sharp mora or Opinel for 12 dollars.

Carl.

Glad to have run into this thread. Ordered 3 from Ragweed, to see what these 12-15$ knives are all about.

Will report back.

Outstandking...;)

Bushcraft Survival
Ett vasst blad med tydlig spets, ett integrerat tändstål och ett diamantbryne gör Bushcraft Survival till den ultimata kniven för bushkraftentusiasterna.

No doubt!!

I ordered my Clipper Monday morning and got it yesterday! nice turn-around! by far the sharpest out-of-box knife I have ever owned!

Mora

Seem to be pretty decent deal for $13 knives. The Moras came in, one in stainless and one carbon (Companion). Both in plastic sheaths, one with the belt pivot. I'm going to put one in my main carry Maxpedition B.O. Bag.

Great personalized service from Ragnar and Ragweed Forge.

..

this thread reminded me .. i´ve gifted all mine away :)

Will order 2 or 3. Now.

Mora

Here are a few Swedish Beauty Shots. Mora Companion essentially the same knives, one in stainless and one in CS. One in swivel sheath one fixed.

Next to a Spyderco Native for comparison.

This one fits nicely on the side of a Maxpedition Bag. Clips on one strap and behind three others so it is not going anywhere.

Well, my order arrived. $100 goes a LOT further with these knives, it's a big box full.

Funny enough, I ordered one of the green-sheathed stainless knives, too. It's now my full-time leather skiving knife - so dang sharp right out of the box that I was able to cut through 12oz veggie tanned leather like it wasn't there. I was able to even cut complex curving shapes for holsters out of it, with the sharpness of the knife. Unbelievably good deal. :)

You carry a WHAT everyday? I never heard of that and when I try to search the internet for it, the only thing that comes up is YOUR POST that I'm responding to.

Gotta love Moras!

Love my #1 to death, although I did lose the sheath to mine to the ocean when a rogue wave decided it was it's time to go.

Might just be excuse enough to finally get a nice pukko or another Mora.

The only thing that irks me is that the standard Mora sheath's belt loop is too narrow to fit my belt without some difficulty.

Ragnar and Mora, a great place to get a very good knife. I have them in tool boxes, or packed with hunting gear, and have given them away as presents. Can't beat the price and they get a good edge and keep it. I think I need to get a few more for an event coming up as trade items.

Well, It looks like I am not the only fan!

As for a "range report", they are great for cutting bait. The scales and bones that easily take the edge off many of my more expensive knives are no match for my Mora. The best part is how easily the yuck rinses off the knife and sheath when I am ready to call it a day. The handle stays grippy even when covered in blood and slime too!

They may not look like much, but they sure get the job done! :)

I have a Mora, and I dig it. The one I have has been through the ringer, because I pull it out and use it for everything, and I am doing that on purpose to see what it can do. Conclusion? I can't imagine a whole lot of instances where it would fail me or be insufficient.

I have a Becker BK2 strapped to my bag, and I very much like that knife, but for ease of use, weight, ease of sharpening and a bunch of other little factors, I really think the Mora would be my go-to "survival" knife. Certainly, I prefer it over a bunch of other fixed blade knives I have, to include the ever-popular Becker Necker and a couple of Buck's.

Edit: I posted about the C-223 here then decided it should have its own thread.
