I like it a lot, but it is REALLY heavy handed with moderation.

See'ing some innocent things being locked for really dumb reasons, yet they let people bash a product or people bash people for trying to introduce new products to the market (HyperCav bullets)

Makes no sense to me. They need to loosen up a tad IMO

THR is a very special place. Some VERY knowledgable people here. If you need information or the opinions of those who have rally been there and done that, in the world of shooting, this is the place. If you want to disucss the complexities of thorny issues regarding guns and law and society, this is THE place for the highest level of polite debate.

I find THR to be a welcoming and friendly place that still manages to keep up a relatively high signal-to-noise ratio. And the staff harbor a demeanor of professionalism and responsibility which is refreshing. Not everyone finds that to their tastes, but there's LOTS of other places to go for other levels of discourse about a wider array of topics.

No spam. No aggressive behavior. No celebrity blather or "police blotter" junk. No "cliqus," no flame wars. Just polite, professional, responsible discussion, "all guns, all the time." That's nice.

second would be my straight razor site: straightrazorplace.com - no topic is off limits...Razors, guns, cigars, drinks, politics....

THR, both versions, have dropped way down on my list of places to visit. too much crap being posted, too many mods throwing the banhammer around without actually reading posts, to many posts disappearing into thin air.

PAFOA, Jerzeedevil, and Facebook are my most visited.

I spend a lot of time here. (high post count) I have learned a great deal since joining THR. I try to share my experience where it is applicable. I continue to learn stuff here.

I joined here because it was so civil compared to some other sites. I don't mind the childish posts being scolded from time to time. I am not interested in hanging around with children, here, there, or anywhere.

THR is about discussing guns. For other discussions, there are other places.

As long as the thread remains reasonably civil, I enjoy some of the long winded debates on interesting subjects. (Been known to get in on a couple)

I enjoy interesting posts and good info, regardless of the posters "post count". Hang around, participate, and your post count will build up pretty quickly.

Anytime something is open to the public, you're going to have idiots. You can't blame the entire site for that. THR is my favorite site and has been since I discovered it in March 2009. I have gotten a lot of valuable information about handloading here and have put the advice to use with great results. I also enjoy talking everything about guns and hearing others' opinions, even if I don't always agree with them. I still have a pretty low post count and have not noticed anyone disrespecting me because of it. Every question I've posted has gotten several good responses and they have been very helpful.

What's this about a legal battle though? Guess that was before I got here. Somebody explain it to me.

so, what other "gun/hunting" related sites do you folks frequent? i found this site from a post on 24hourcampfire.com. also saw this place referenced on accuratereloading.com.

I've learned more from this site than anything else. Favorite? Meh, I guess so. There are other places that I prefer to be, but not much goes on there so...

Aside from the ever present magnum rifle hate/"just get a .308/30-06/270/insert mediocre cartridge here" crowd and the stifling moderation that goes on, this ain't the worst gun forum by any means. I've never seen mods so quick to lock threads over petty reasons though.

The reloading section is among the best on the internet and probably the best part of the forum. Absolutely top notch.

Still, not my favorite forum, but definitely worth a daily look.

Some incredibly knowledgeable people here and many good post. But many times are drowned out by others who get way to wrapped up in their own ego and inability to see anything other than what they are interested in, but that is fairly common on large sites. Way to many posts getting canceled for dumb reasons, IMO. But as was said previously, gun sights tend to be among the worst for opinionated/rudeness. And I am not always exempt.

I stick with local hunting forums and rimfire forums mostly, RFC is my favorite.

I go to Gamespot/gamefaqs a lot for video games and computer hardware related stuff the most. (Those were my biggest hobbies before firearms.)

Do go to facebook a lot, but just check what friends posted and then log out.

One thing I have no patience for are those that would bully & batter the truly new to "guns & shooting" shooter who is often(in my experience)already quite humble, yet this takes place on every gun forum on the web.
I'm a CLM of another well known gun forum, that is my favorite site, this is a close second, though I do believe that THR has an excellent overall membership.

You are right, it is basically unforgivable, as these people are the future of the sport/hobby/pastime.

One of my favorites, I try and add value when I can but have to admit I'm more of a taker than giver. That is slowly changing though as I get more comfortable with my knowledge gained.

Barring none, if you need any feedback, opinions, on anything gun related answered in a short time, this is the place to post.

THR is second only to the Walther Forums for me. I'm just a Walther kind of a guy. :) That having been said, THR is a stellar, grade-A, terrific forum, all day and every day.

Its my second favorite. One of the better gun forums imo. I prefer it to TFL, the mods here are much better.

hey Chevyforlfe
Ill jump in here , well THR IS not my favorite but i do like it ,wish there werent so many ''you get what you pay for'' guys. Opinions are good as long as there not insulting.
I have found other sites to be less anti this, anti that,(FOR EXMPLE) love my mini but try bringing up that here, even when its been put to rest. Ive made a few friends and thats all u can ask for.Great picture threads and alot of info just remember to chew the meat and spit out the fat:D

Used to be. Now, not so much.

(Chevyforlife21, you joined after The Great Unpleasantness so you probably don't know what we're talking about)

yea i never knew anything happened. i did notice the old style high road with the white background for always Googleing gun problems though

What's this about a legal battle though? Guess that was before I got here. Somebody explain it to me.

It is unmentionable on thr.org atleast until it gets resolved. Mods have been known to lock threads and ban people for "expressing" their opinion on the matter. So let me just say that the issue is supposed to be resolved sometime this spring and there may be some big changes to THR. I will say that THR was better before the legal battle.
