don't post as often as in the past on THR because of the Moderators over zealous need to Lock Post and issue infractions. I took the suggestion of one moderator to not visit the THR. Many of my on line friends have switched to other more moderator friendly sites as I have

That about sums it up, I wish more people knew about THR.us. Every time a good discussion gets started, a lock is placed on the thread. I realize that it is not my website, but as an adult it would be nice to be able to carry on a discussion (even if a little off topic). In real life people don't have to leave the room to change direction a little. Could you imagine talking to a friend about 45 caliber handguns and tossing them out of your house for mentioning a 9mm? "Hey, you are getting off topic here".

Yes, definitely. I appreciate being able to leave it up on my laptop without my 9 year old reading profanity in someones post.

I also appreciate the wealth of knowledge providing by the enormously diverse group of firearms enthusiasts on this board.

Must be nice to make accusations that can't be refuted without getting banned.

I am not making accusations. I read the lawsuit. I have drawn a conclusion and taken sides, as you have apparently done as well. If you have not read the suit, you should. Nothing wrong with taking sides, particularly when you have taken the time to get informed. No need to be disrespectful over someone else's informed opinion.

As has been posted, the perfect situation already exists. Oleg is doing good work for RKBA at his site, Derek & the mods are doing a good job here IMO, and both are serving a good purpose. Go with what floats your boat, be a member of both, or walk from whatever offends you. Whichever way you ultimately go, you would probably have a better experience supporting whatever home you elect to be in.

Peace out. By the way, my name is not Elroy, and I am not all that enamored of AK's. I gave 5 seconds thought to a screen name when signing up for THR. I just wanted a quick answer to a stupid question, and they pulled me in.

I have picked up more direction in becoming a better (and safer) metallic cartridge reloader in the past year from THR than I have in the past 10 years reading manuals, and talking to others that "roll their own". Some wonderfully helpful people posting here. Feel as though I have been able to get past the neophyte stage with it.
Happy to not see the politics prevalent here, other places to find that if desired. Having it might help attract people to a particular site, but it reminds me of buying a sack of potatoes with a rotten stinker at the bottom of the bag.
Firearms research help is top-notch, by the way, also.
Voted No. 1.

Found this site after TFL, right now its goes facebook, NES, THR and TFL, and maybe SS

Sam1911: Thanks for directing your attack primarily at me for my opinion. I thought I was fairly clear and non threatening when I said they could get "hints" and "improve."
I never said they had to change into another site.
I frequent both sites and just noticed they allow more of the "off topic drift" which we all just happen to be in the middle of as I type in this thread. They are exactly the
same site but both have different topics. More info can be gained by visiting both sites instead of taking sides and "farting in the general direction" of the other site.

THR is my favorite to go to learn site. I guess I haven't seen the problems that other members complain about. Maybe when I'm older and wiser

Now, I.C., I didn't single you out except by dint of the fact that your post was the latest in a long string of "those Mod's aught ta' learn" rants.

You were perfectly clear.

I don't think anyone felt threatened.

But, when you ask them to "improve" to let through more "noise" in relation to the "signal" you ask them to change what the site IS. In fact, when you make a comparison like this, "I frequent both sites and just noticed they allow more of the "off topic drift," you certainly give the impression that you approve of such things.

That is directly to my point: There is a place where you can go to experience that style or level of discussion. That place ISN'T here, and those of us who LIKE it here, and don't care for the way things are there, don't want HERE to be like THERE. Make sense?

More info can be gained by visiting both sites instead of taking sides and "farting in the general direction" of the other site.

No arguement with that. In fact, I said something similar. But, just because you like what one site is, doesn't mean that the other site should be that way.

If you want, you could think of THR.org as your "reference" site and THR.us as your "social/entertainment" site. Would that work for you?

Come on guys, there are some good moderators on THR and there are some very poor moderators. When a mod gives an infraction for up to three months for using words like "Gangsta Rims" , "Mulatto" , “those people” it is time for the senior admin/owner types to step in and review THR policies. I am very surprised that a moderator did not locked this after 5 or 6 treads.

Enough squabbling, and we hopefully have better things to do here than just argue about people. The High Road doesn't exist to win popularity contests: it exists to further responsible gun ownership. If topics/moderating style/site layout/membership somewhere else generally suits anyone better, great! As long as you're a good representative of a firearms owner, go and prosper. :)

If someone wants to start ~another thread about things they would like to see changed or improved at THR, Technical Support is the forum for it.

John
