But, now that i'm on the subject, I wonder if anyone has ever converted an ishapore to use FAL mags?

Haven't gone that far but I cut a FAL spring and put it in my 2a after mine broke. Works great but will only take 10rds. I could cut another coil but it works perfect with 10 and why fix something that isn't broke.

I bought two of these last year, and both of them had feeding and extraction issues. I ended up using a welder to carefully build up the catch on the magazines, then grind them down to fit perfectly with no wiggle. No more feeding or extraction issues.

I haven't really messed with them enough at the range to figure out how to get any accuracy out of either one. 4-6 MOA seems about as good as they will do, even with good ammo.

I've had my 2A1 for several years now. No problems with function and it's remarkably accurate for an issue milsurp. The best I can do with the issue irons and my bifocal-clad eyes is about 2 1/2" at 100 yds with SA surplus ball, but it's demonstrated that it's capable of near-MOA with better eyes and a steadier hand on several occasions.
