2A mags are not....

meant to be swapped out like an AK. They are supposed to be loaded by stripper clips, note the slot in the top of the receiver. They are serial numbered to the gun......chris3

As ball3006 mentions the mags are not intended to be swapped they are hand fitted for each rifle (a real PITA BTW to get one to function reliably) and in fact removing one too often can result in reliability and feeding problems.... they were not intended to be actually removed except for cleaning....

I had a spring break in mine I just cut a Fal mag spring and bent it to support the follower. Couldn't really find replacement springs but it works great. It was really easy you just need ten rounds to check it to make sure it feeds correctly. That was in an Ishapore 2a 308 rifle.

The ones that Gun Parts Corporation/Numrich Arms sells are almost identical to the factory Ishapore 12 round magazine that comes with the rifle.

They run IIRC around $35 each with a discount if you buy two or more.

They are blued steel and not painted and the follower is longer so you can only load 10 rounds instead of 12 but identical more or less IMO they are the best replacement magazine I have come across.

Best of luck.;)

Ishapore Mags... 12 And 10 Rounds

The Ishapore factory supplied the guns with one 12 round mag. The front edge of the mag has a feed ramp. This feed ramp was put in the mag more as a spacer because the gun was originally designed for the British .303 round which is longer than the .308. Rather than shorten the whole receiver, bolt carrier, stock, … they put the spacer (feed ramp) in the front of the magazine. The 10 round magazines are made in the USA by Promag. They don't feed as smoothly as the original mags, but they work pretty well. The feed ramp does actually help feed the round smoother than the US mags without the ramp. You will have to file the catch on the rear of the mag so it fits in your gun. This only takes about 5 minutes with a Dremel, 10 minutes with a hand file! The US made mags aren’t the usual crappy quality that Promag is known for. At first I was disappointed that my only mag option was by Promag, but I was plesently surprised by the quality when I saw them. Don’t pay more than $25.00 for the Promags and $35.00 for the originals. As far as removing them and re-installing the mags like a modern firearm, I personally see no problem with it, and I haven’t had any problems.

P.S. you can get a shooters grade gun with a cracked stock for $100.00 sell the stock on e-bay for $20-$30, and buy a new plastic ATI stock for $65.00.
For only about $135.00 you can have a pretty good rifle that shoots a modern NATO round!

THE .308 ISHAPORE IS ONE OF THE BEST DEALS IN BOLT ACTION RIFLES YOU CAN BUY RIGHT NOW!

Good luck with your Ishapore!

Ishapore Mag Sources

I got 5 new 10 rounders from eBay Member: model88man for only $20.00 each. They can not be sold on e-bay, but he was advertising selling ishapore scope mounts. I bought the scope mount saw that he used to sell these mags in his history, and contacted him about purchasing the mags as well. shipping was only $7.00 for everything!!!

go on e-bay
click on "community" in the upper right hand corner
type in "model88man" next to find a member
look at what he has for sale and contact him about the enfield magazines
e-bay does not allow gun magazines to be sold. if you buy any from him they will be a non e-bay transaction.

I think Aim Surplus and Sarco had the 10 and 12 round mags for sale... they were not listed on their web site so you have to call them!
