Israeli Fal 922r Compliance

I've had a parts kit for an Israeli Fal for years sitting in my storage. If I recall correctly - it is a heavy barrel model with a front bipod. Recently, I heard about Mak-90's being made 922r compliant by changing out the FCG, gas piston, replacing the thumbhole stock - all with American made parts so that the total of imported parts is no more than 10 imported parts. Thus, making the Mak-90 a Ak-47 derivative and allowing the use of a pistol grip. The Mak-90 nolonger would have been considered an imported rifle - but now american made and legal to have changed out the thumbhole stock.
So, does this mean that when I go to assemble my Israeli Fal kit with it's new American made receiver - that I must also change out other Israeli made imported parts for me to have the original pistol grip, bipod, flash hider ...etc on this gun - legal?
Or, because the definition of a gun resides in the receiver - and since my receiver would be American made - that when I assemble this kit back to its glorified configuration - that I have made an American made gun already be the virtue of having it assembled with an American made receiver??

Lots of questions here. But- I am confident that one of you fine folks can help me with this. If I need to change out other Israeli parts, along with the receiver - who is my best source of american made Israeli Fal parts? - and what parts would I need to change out??

You'll have to comply with 922r when you build your FAL.

Here are the applicable FAL 922r parts:

(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings
(2) Barrels
(3) Barrel extensions

(5) Muzzle attachments
(6) Bolts
(7) Bolt carriers
(8) Operating rods (charging handle)
(9) Gas pistons

(11) Triggers
(12) Hammers

(14) Disconnectors
(15) Buttstocks
(16) Pistol grips
(17) Forearms, handguards
(18) Magazine bodies
(19) Magazine followers
(20) Magazine floorplates

Israeli FAL compliance parts were actually quite easy to get a few years
ago from Tapco, but they have stopped selling them on their website.
This included cocking handles, gas pistons, floor plates, and followers, etc.
If you call them, they might be able to tell you who still makes the floor
plates and followers.

Another possibility is DSA. They at least still stock the US made gas piston.
They also have the US barrel, but I imagine you were trying to avoid that
as a cost since you have one in your kit. Their US made metric FCG will
swap fine, but be careful not to snap the interior frame locking plate for it
in your lower. The israeli kits are approaching 50 years old now and I can
assure you this part is thin and brittle.

Your FAL can have no more than 10 imported parts from the list. The Federal reg is 27 CFR Section 178.39. So you must look at your parts kit and make sure no more than 10 parts that were imported go into the gun.

You need 7 US made parts if there is a flash hider on the gun or 6 without.

I would avoid using the mag base plate as one of the compliance parts. With the magazine out of the gun it is legally no longer in compliance.
