i can see that there are alot of real knowledgeable people in this forum and alot are eager to help so i'd like to know how many of you have shot isreali pistols?? i see a lot of glock and s&w and of the sort discussions but i would really like someone who has shot both types of guns israeli and other pistols and really tell me what they think.

if someone has shot a jericho id like to here from your experience too cuz thats what i plan to buy...also an akkar shotgun, remington rifles and the beretta px4 storm

I owned a 40 S&W Baby eagle pistol, which is a rebadged Jericho for the US market, several years ago. It was a very realiable and well made pistol for the price which was about $325 at the time. It was not like a Sig in quality but I had no problems with it. The accuarcy was as good as my Glock 22, which was about 3"-4" at 25yrds depending on ammo. They are a licensed copy of the Czech Cz-75 pistol.

I actually own an Israeli Arms International (now defunct) M5000. It is a Commander clone.
On the occasions when I hoof a 1911, this is the one that goes with me!!!

Baby Eagle from Magnum Research is the one i have. It is in the 9mm with the frame mounted safety. It seems to be a very well rounded pistol. They are not the top of the line but do have a great form and function for your money.

I own an Uzi Eagle 9mm, which says Made in Israel but I believe has at least some Tanfoglio manufactured components. It bears the IMI badge on the grips, and was imported for a short time thru Mossberg.

Mine came with two 10-rd magazines but I have since purchased two 16-rd OEM factory mags. It also came with tru-Glo night sights.

It is a wonderful DA/SA pistol. I have not found any cartridge loading that it does not feed with 100% reliability. It shoots every load with similar accuracy, which I find remarkable. As has been stated before on this and other forums, these pistols have some of the very best ergonomics as far as a comfortable grip "feel" and geometry. Although a bit wide and requiring a slightly long trigger reach, it is one of the most comfortable pistols I have ever shot. Other shooters who hold mine for the first time marvel at how natural it feels in their hand, like it was molded to their hand.

Since it is all-steel, the recoil is very light and rapid follow-up shots are the norm. The bore line is very low, placing it closer to the hand and that greatly reduces muzzle flip.

I would rate the trigger as a bit spongy, kinda soft feeling but easily adapted to. It isn't match-grade crisp in SA but it is smooth and fairly light and does not pull the aim off. I've shot a bunch of SIGs with triggers that are very similar.

The barrel is chrome lined and is a true polyagonal rifling, which has been claimed to improve velocities. And it's a dream to clean even after shooting hundreds of rounds. I never tried hard-cast lead but jacketed bullets leave practically zero copper fouling.

Mine wears a dull black finish which has been impervious to rust or corrosion. It isn't Tenifer or Melonite, but it is quite durable and fingerprints are never a worry.

I have vowed never to sell or trade it, because I cannot imagine finding another more reliable and accurate handgun for anywhere near the price I paid ($465).

If there are negatives I have found, it is the availability of good leather or Kydex holsters. However, Fist-inc.com has several in both materials and they are very high quality. Also, there may be some factory support issues if a problem should ever arise, which so far has not been an issue. Some berate the slide-mounted decocker, but I consider that a non issue. I have other cocked-and-locked pistols and this is just different, not any better or worse.

Best regards,

nitesite

Fired a Jericho, nice gun but basically a slightly heavier CZ-75. Used to have polygonal rifling, now they don't, some are frame mounted safety for cocked and locked carry, some have a slide mounted decocker/safety.

If I was in the market for a CZ-75 type gun I'd go for a CZ P-01, could you share with us your reasons for being fixated on the Jericho please, Cowboy Bebop? Israeli Pride?

well youre right i am sort on a one way street...maybe i shouldnt be but heres the thing; im about to buy my first firearm and i took a course with an instructor who was the presidents (of costa rica) bodygaurd, he had been sent to train in israel with the isrealian army and hence in practice he used the jericho and the mp5...so i took on the task to finding out as much as i can about this gun because this guy spoke so well about it.. so i decided that id like to have this gun...basically thats why....thats also the reason why i entered this forum so i could read about other guns and alot of other things so i could learn

Newbie, the Tanfoglio-made CZ clones, including the Jericho, can be great guns. I doubt you'd be sorry you bought the Jericho, but I think you ought to consider that these clones exist for a reason. I think you should consider buying a CZ 75.

thanks for the advice seraph.. and i gotta just let you in on something i live in costa rica and here we have serious gun tax policies and plus a big percentage charge just to bring the gun here...so for example the cheapest h&k USP youll find is around or further up than $1600 :what: , the s&w sw99 IF YOU PAY CASH goes for $910, glock M22 $1200 the list might go on...the jericho 941 im getting with an AMAZING discount for $1000...i actually wanted the h&k but gosh darn 1600 bucks is way to rich for my blood...so you see my dilemma here??

i appreciate the info though...oh and i havent seen any cz in the costa rican market yet but if i do ill let you know how low my shorts must go...:neener:
