I picked up a box of Berry's 185 grain FP plated bullets to load for my .45 Springfield. I cannot get a bullet to chamber no matter how much I cut back on the OAL. Has anyone else experienced this? I have seen other threads where 1911's are shooting the same bullet with no issue but the rounds do not chamber in my pistol. I read that some people were cutting OAL back to 1.226 to get the rounds to chamber due to the flat points but I have tried much shorter (rounds I would never even consider firing due to how short they are) and I cannot get around the chambering issue. I'm going to switch to regular ball ammo but wanted to know if others were having the same issue. The OD of the rounds match exactly the OD of a factory round that chambers with no issues.

I shoot the Berrys 200 Gr HP at 1.200 & the Berrys 185 Gr SWC at 1.190. They are both very accurate. They also well, especially the 200 HP. If your gun won't feed these at those O.A.L.'s, it's your gun.

Some time back I tried Ranier 200 Gr FP's & HP's and loaded them at 1.235. Other than not shooting all that well, they fed fine.

I have not tried any Berry's FP's because of my results with the Raniers.

I shoot the Berry's 200 grain RS (round shoulder), which is similar to a FP profile at an OAL of 1.155", which is listed as the minum oal for a similar bullet. I have no feed problems (so far) in a series 70 1911.

no issue but the rounds do not chamber in my pistol.
Are you asking about a feeding issue, or a chambering issue?

I ran into chambering problems with Berry 9mm bullets. Come to find out there was a .002" variance in bullet diameter in the 250 bullet box.

They were supposed to be .355", but some of them were .356", and some of them were .357"!

The .357" ones were jamming into the leade on my SIG and failing to chamber fully.

I ended up resizing them with my Lyman Lubrisizer and they all worked fine.

If you have feed issues, that is probably your gun.
Unless it has had it's feed-ramp polished & throated to handle TC-FP bullets you may have problems getting it to feed them.
