I have ben drooling over the new Colt 6940 for a while and I managed to pick one up the other day. This is one hell of a weapon. I like having the built in rail instead of having to drop the money and time on a DD or Troy rail.

The Rail is a bit wider than I would like. It is 2.4 inches instead of the 2.2 of a Troy rail. This may not sem like much but once you add panels it feels much bigger. I decided to use the stock ladder covers for now instead of the XTM panels I had laying around.

I am also not a fan of the MaTech BUIS so I replaced it with an Arms #40 I had on hand.

So far I have only put a coupel hundred rounds through it but I hope to get a good range session in here soon once I have a couple good days of weather.

Good idea changing out the BUIS. We had those in the Army for a while and they broke a lot, on post. Luckily we realized it before we deployed and got better sites.

A bunch of people on my squad have a 6940 on order, group buy from an FFL, and I told them all to replace the stock BUIS.

I had a Matech on another gun and didn't have any real problems with it, however I don't like a BUIS that only has the small aperture. If I need a BUIS I will probably need it up close and want the Larger size for better visibility.
