It may actually be getting better.

Two Walmarts had two boxes of .25ACP and box of .44Magnum. Local BassPro had .500S&W, .460S&W and .480 Ruger plus empty handgun ammo isle. Yes, things are improving.

How many threads talking about how things are improving will we have before things actually start improving???

Yeah, today at my LGS I got my limit of 5 boxes of 22LR, and they had plenty more, at only twice what I paid in November for a box of 50. Lots of .223 at $14/box of 20 and no 9mm. First 22LR I bought since last fall, so back to the range now.

If any of you know how to check actual ammo sale prices on Gunbroker, you might post a few average figures each week for .22, 5.56, 7.62x39 etc. This would help highlight trends for those who are willing to wait.
For rifle sale prices on GB, two years ago my search did not work out and I gave up.

It must be a secret code or is not possible, because sellers might have 'lobbied' the managers so that potential bidders won't be able to evaluate averages.

The fact that much more ammunition has been available in the last two-three weeks will only help cool off the anxiety and further accelerate the downwards trend for prices.
The "ball" is in the "buyers' court", as always.

I was at a LGS a little N of Nashville yesterday. They were stocked better than I've seen since the panic started. They had just about everything except 9mm. The prices were higher, probably 25-30% from pre panic levels. The selection of guns is definately getting better as well. Seeing a lot less dead space in racks and cases.

It seems to be getting better in my neck o' the woods.....Southeast Missouri. A couple local firearm stores are increasing the amount of limits from 1 box per cal/day to 2 box cal / day. Even the Walmart stores in the area are getting more ammunition...

And yes as much as I despise resellers gouging people, they are at least continuing to get ammo out and not just hoard it. I would be more worried about the shortages if I had not already stashed a bunch myself.

I actually have to agree. I went to academy last night, and they had 44 special and 357 in stock! Not the 45 colt and 45-70 I'm looking for, but...I haven't seen regulat ammo like that for some time.

BAP, you're not much of a prepper if you didn't stock on on ammo during the fat times:banghead:

I'm a young man with a mediocre job that doesn't pay me what i'm worth itchy1, i just got started shooting/prepping a little over 2 years ago. I figured medical supplies, clothes, and freeze dried food was more important in the short run. I'm also not a psychic! I didn't foresee the Sandy Hook Hoax happening. Afterall, our 2A rights are supposed to be inalienable. I have a little bit in the way of ammo, but not nearly enough.

Good answer. It looks like you've got your priorities properly aligned (water?). Many people have 10 years worth of ammo and two weeks worth of food.

Thanks MaterDei. The property on which i live has abundant water, as well as fertile soil. I have friendly neighbors, and we're not stacked on top of one another. I doubt the whole community could deplete the local springs. Getting back to the topic of discussion, i sure hope ammo availability gets better soon. Even if the price increases prove to be permenant surely it'll at least become available in useful quantities?

Where the heck are you guys????? We did get some 5.56 last week, but it went pretty darn quick. One LGS MAY be getting some 22LR in the next couple of weeks, but no guarantees.

My .22's came from Midway USA and Grafs &Sons, but the rest I am finding box by box locally. I lucked up and got 6k rounds of .22 total, and the price wasn't horrible. Now my LGS has slightly higher prices than normal on everything....

Things seem to be getting better in terms of inventory. But I still refuse to stand in line for ammunition. I just won't shoot. My life does not revolve around whether or not I can go shooting. As it so happens, I do have lots of 22LR ammunition and a reasonable supply of the center fire ammunition that I shoot. Honestly, if stores had more inventory, I would be buying ammunition during every visit if it were available at normal pricing. Then I would relax and start blasting away.

Queen, I'm glad you're finding ammunition now. It is just not as important to me.

That's what I did. I bought a box every time I visited Walmart or Cabela's. The problem arose when I bought a new gun in a caliber that I never had before.

Yeah, 22-rimfire, I agree. I will not stand in line or wait for ammo. The closest I do is the notifications from Midway USA. To be honest, by the time I get to the site, the ammo is usually sold out...lol. I have lucked out on a couple purchases though.

Just an update. I was able to pick up magtech 38sp, 357 mag, 40s&w, 9mm, 45 acp over the weekend! And the sales rep added 5 bricks of CCI SV which cost went up $2 per brick and two bricks of Remington thunderbolt to the order, so it is getting better.

I was also able to buy three boxes of cci quiet at Walmart yesterday. They had a bunch of 50 rd thunderbolts also which I passed on.

Well I started this one because I've been one to say the "sky is falling" on ammo supplies. Its my admission that I was probably wrong but we shall see. Of course todays delivery to Academy is a strong indication that things are getting better. Example: fifty 100 count boxes of Winchester 9mm, twenty 50 count boxes of Winchester 115gr JHP, 200 boxes of Independance 20 round boxes of 5.56, ten boxes of Winchester 40 s&w 100 count boxes, 5 AE 100 count boxes of 223 and some other calibers I dont worry about.

Shooting is the only sport I can participate in due to my mobility problems so my options are severly limited. Its not like I can go out for a morning run like I used too or take a trip to go fishing. So shooting is bit more important to me then it is to most people.

Just got back from Sportsman's Warehouse (72nd south SLC) looking at camping stuff, they were still pretty bare, but the did have some 1k boxes of Remington small pistol primers and Berry's bullets in 115 gr 9mm and 180 gr .45. (No 230s.) On their ammo display they had a few dozen boxes of Tula AK ammo. Not much, but better than the last few months.

Scheel's has ARs such as RRA in stock at normal prices.

My local Academy had tons of .223, 7.62x39 and many other popular rifle ammo. Still no .22, they even had three AR's!
