My wife and I met our daughter and son-in-law, oldest grand son, and oldest great grand daughter at the range at 7 AM this morning. It would have been 6AM if left up to me but daughter refused. The daughter and SIL are going to do their course to get their concealed carry permits this coming weekend and my daughter wanted to try out various pistols to see what she wanted to use for the course. The SIL had a brand new 9MM AR pistol he wanted to try too. Nice gun and it should be for what it cost but I'm not interested it an AR pistol of any kind even after shooting it. A lot of powder got burned during the morning and the daughter blew her husband and son away shooting my PT 1911 9 MM. She was shooting groups half the size of theirs. I'm kind of glad I didn't get in on their group shooting. Dad might have been embarrassed too. It just shows I taught her right when she was a kid and she embarrassed a few boys back then. A neat thing is she is right handed an left eye dominate and she proves that you can overcome that problem quite well that if you want to. Neither are going to have any trouble passing the course but my daughter decided against using my 1911 as she doesn't think she can handle it's weight with her weak hand.

I let the GGDaughter shoot her first centerfire handgun this morning, a Walther 9 MM, and she did quite well. Grandpa recognizes her abilities a little better than her parents and isn't afraid to let her do things that they think she needs to be older before trying. I have their permission to take her shooting, I just don't tell them what she is going to shoot. Next is an AR.

Grandpa burned a little powder too. I turned some 2" rocks on the berm into gravel when everyone else finished shooting using a 9MM. Not a one of them got away and all were one shot kills.

We saved all the brass so now comes a long reloading session.
