Well, I taught my oldest daughter (10 today) how to reload her .243 back in February. Ever since then, she's been reloading, practicing, reloading more, practicing more in anticipation of youth deer season opening today. This year was the first year she's used her own reloads she did with her own two hands. Well, they worked great. Not only did she drop her second deer ever, but she dropped her first buck ever. That's not all....she wanted to go out this afternoon. Worked great again, she got a 2nd buck ever and for the day.

Talk about being a proud daddy. Her second deer, she made an absolutely perfect shot. Deer ran 20yds if that.

First buck of the day and of her life:

Her load is a 100gr Hornady BTSP over IMR 7828 with CCI 250's using Win brass. I'd say it did it's job very well.

AWSOME JOB!
I hope to have similar results next year with my daughter..... Yours set the bar high and you should be proud.

Congratulations to you both!

Is that a Savage Axis? How does she like it? My son is ten and has declined my offers to shoot my Axis in .243. Glad to see you got good results with the loads. I'll be taking the same bullets out with H414 in a few weeks.

Her drive to reload and to hunt is admirable.
An empowered daughter is a very good thing!

The big smile each time says it all!!!:D A picture says a thousand words and all that. It seems the young ladies are ALWAYS the better shots when I teach new shooters. She has it made, around here (Maine) we are only allowed one deer a season.

Yep. She said it was the best birthday she's ever had.

Only 1? We're allowed 6 here in Arkansas. Out of that 6, max 2 bucks.

OUTSTANDING!!!
Only 10 years old and already loading her own ammo and taking 2 deer in one day! there are plenty of adults out there who can't do that...

BTW, the shot placement on the second deer was textbook. You can't get better than that. You both did well, keep up the good work and having fun. I'm just wondering if she hurt her face smiling so much! lol

She did a lot of smiling yesterday for sure. Her and I both! She said the boys at school will never believe her that she shot two bucks this weekend. I couldn't help but laugh at that statement.

You know what they say on the Internet, if you don't have pictures it didn't happen. Well.... She has pictures!!!

Exactly. Lol. I plan to print some off for her tonight to talk to school tomorrow. Lol
Be careful, in some schools now days just having a picture of a gun in school can get you suspended or even expelled! Sad but true so be careful... We wouldn't want an outstanding weekend ruined by silliness.

Oooo, I didn't think about that. May just not worry about doing that then. If they don't believe, she knows the truth. That's all that matters anyway.

Awesome. This post made my day. I am a dad too and I know how proud you must feel. A great day indeed.
