Grandma and grandpa, daughter and son-in-law, their son and daughter, and the the five great grandkids went. My wife an I remained as grandma and grandpa to prevent confusion when the the first was born as that is the way were called before she arrived on the scene. It has worked well.

The daughter was wanting to learn to shoot handguns as she never had much interest until recently and with just her and three daughters now wanted to be able to protect them if ever needed. She is a natural. She went from not knowing how to hold a semi-auto correctly to hitting an 8" gong at a stepped 12 yards almost every shot with a sig 356 and my 3 screw blackhawk. When I told her it was a 357 magnum I got that "you gotta be kidding" look so I explained that it was loaded with light 38 special hand loads.

All the kids got to shoot including the 3 year old.for her very first time. Kid liked it and of course her uncle was helping her with the little cricket rife that they all started on. About all she had to do was pull the trigger.

It was enjoyable morning for all even if grandma did have to play babysitter quite a bit. I didn't shoot a lot so the kids could. I can go to the range about anytime but they can't. Only two, the 4 and 6 year olds, got hollered at for stepping out in front of everyone even though they were over to the side.and no one was shooting. It keeps them from developing bad habits if they are nipped in the bud.

We intended to in the afternoon but as the forecast predicted pretty high wind we took them on Friday afternoon. Kids and grandpa caught a bunch of sunfish after grandpa found where they were. Lot's of laughing and hollering going on. I receive great joy from helping kids learn something they enjoy and this bunch really likes to shoot and fish. Sure enough we got the wind just like predicted.

The wind is supposed to be even higher today so son-in-law, grandson, and I are going to load up and head to Carlsbad for, you guessed it, another gunshow.

Excellent day, congratulations on taking the kiddos out and also teaching your daughter how to shoot the SIG and Blackhawk.

Several friends are racing out near Barstow (in Johnson Valley) this morning, said gusts are to 35 now but may pick up.

I hope the Carlsbad show is a good one, I’ve been told the ones in Ontario and San Bernardino have been so-so for the past few years.

Stay safe.
