Since I'm not comparing the Italians to the Indians I thought I'd start a new thread.

I'm in the market for a 45-70 Sharps reproduction and I can't afford a Shiloh, Ballard, or C Sharps so it's going to have to be an import. The 2 Armisport rifles I'm looking at are the Rocky Mountain Sharps 1874 Single Shot .45-70 Government 32 Inch and the Model 1874 USA Shooting Team Sharps .45-70 Government 34 Inch round barrel. Both of these are from Armisport. Then there is the Sharps Model 1874 from Pedersoli,...all in the same price range.

I've heard good and bad things about Armisport and mostly good things about Pedersoli. Armisport was said to have been "greatly improved" over the years but that doesn't tell me their present quality.

There are no guns near me that I can put my hands on so I have to rely on what I hear and what I can find on the Internet. All my phone information has come from dealers and there has to be some level of bias in their opinions. That's why I'd really appreciate some input from guys that have shot these rifles. What would be really great is to hear from someone that has shot both of them.

What I'm looking for is a rifle with good appearance, good fit and finish. If I miss the target I want it to be because of something I did wrong.

This isn't for any high powered competition, just something really cool that I can use to improve my BP skills and have a good time doing it.

I've shot both, and then some. Pedersoli is by far, my favorite. Price point, quality, and accuracy.

I don’t know nothing about nothing, but my Armi Sports CS Richmond is pretty much point of aim at 100 yards- every time.

Thanks. I've heard everything from "piece of crap" to a line in an article by Dennis Adler where he says, "Armi Sport, which produces an exceptional line of single shot Sharps rifles....."

I don't know, I guess I just have to pay my money and take my chances!

I own a 1874 No.1 Silhouette Rifle, 32” barrel .45-70 Government, Perdersoli, a couple of friends have other manufacturers, one is a Uberti Special Sharps 32" the other is a Armisport Rocky Mountain model. All rifles looks very nice, shooting the Rocky Mountain is no different than the others but the group at 200 yards are some what larger with all ammo being the same. The Uberti will shoot a better group at 200 than my Pedersoli. We have all fired each others rifles, so it isn't just the shooter, it has something to do with each rifle. We shoot, or used to, then I took a job where I live away, regularly. For my money I would buy another Pedersoli, but that is my biased opinion, and only these 2 rifles to compare to.

Thanks Ray. There's a gun show coming up next weekend and i plan on doing some serious checking on the various Sharps that are for sale. At least i can compare fit and finish.
