Hi all,

I have this huge itch to buy another Sig this weekend. I already have a 229 and a 239 which I am very happy with, both in 9mm(cheaper to shoot.) Any suggestions? 220, 2022 or 232? I mostly carry the 239 for CCW or my P3AT, I want something concealable and maybe even a larger caliber.

Big fan of the 220 here. With apologies to the numerous 1911 fans, it's my favorite .45.

I love the 1911 but have to admit the best accuracy I have ever had was with a used 220 I bought off a police oficer friend of mine. He said he had the trigger polished, but unless they polished it with magic dust that gun was just way better than any other .45 I have ever fired. My suggestion would be a 220 in SAO, as it is what I have on my wish list. :)

???

Well you've already got a 229 and a 239. It appears you like 9mm so I won't deviate from that (but a 220 Carry SAO is very sweet). I would recommend a 226, time for a full size 9mm!

Outside of that, the 2022 is a fantastic plastic! I have it's older brother the 2340 and I find them the best Polymer Pistol currently manufactured. The only downside is you will have to look a little to find a good holster ( I ordered mine through bearclaw holster) but it's a great gun!

Thanks. Will definately look at the 220's this weekend. I like 45 cal as well and have a nickle series 70 colt. With the SA 220, do you carry cocked and locked as you would a 1911 and if so does it have a decocker?

I bought a 229 in 9mm a little while back. Now I'm itching to buy another 229 in .40 S&W. I've got the bug and my budget is NOT willing to support it :(

The Sig CPOs are a great deal, you can get 229, 220 and 226 versions for $475 or so + shipping so around the price of an XD.

I carry a P229 40 S&W and am looking to add another 229, probably 9mm for my wife and maybe a 226 in the very near future.

Well, I scratched that itch and bought the 220 DA carry model 45 cal. THanks for all the good info. I shot it 5 times and loved it, I was paying for it 10 minutes later. It really doesnt kick much for a .45 and I used +p ammo. I am a happy camper for today. Now if they only made CT laser grips for it.......I will be using my 9mm for range practice and the .45 for carry.

Gander Mountain and AIM Surplus have police trade-in 225/P6s right now for $350.00. I have one, and it's decent. If you like the "Sig system", you'll like the P225.

Well, clink clink, here are my 2 cents.

Coronach's recommendation for the 225 is a good one. The Gander Mountain deal is a good one for sure, especially if you can find one with a good finish. One of the more helpful Sales guys at my Local Gander said they got 3000 in nationwide, and had only about 800 left (as of a couple of weeks ago).

I had a 2022, and didn't care for it too much. It had a real wide grip, and even with my large hands, I could not get comfortable with it. Mine was a .357sig, and I didn't like that particular round out of the 2022. 9mm may be better. For a polymer pistols, it's not terribly bad.

I'd put my vote in for the P232.

I used to have a P230, but in a fit of insanity I traded it in on another gun. I have been seeking a replacement for some time now, and just last week bought this one off a fellow THR member:

The gun is mine. The photo still belongs to Frandy. :)

It's a great piece, and adds a little diversity as opposed to the other Classic P series pistols.

Good luck.

I also am the proud owner of a DS/SA Sig 220. Sweet shooting pistol. I do a lot of shooting with it and decided to get the action enhancement package from sig. Smoothed out the double action and made the single action much lighter. Great choice!!!!! :)

[Strike]Frandy's[/strike] Tydephan's P232 just gets prettier every time I see it.

45 in either

...

I'd steer ya towards either a P220R full size over the Carry, in that, the standard is the same height, a hair over 1/2" longer, but ALOT narrower/slimmer in the slide. Compare the standard next to a Carry and you'll see what I mean, along with, in my case, the point to aim is far more balanced, and lighter feeling in the full size compared to the Carry's shorter but thicker/wider, heavier feel.

And, personally, I can't wait to get my hands on a Sig 1911 Revolution Carry Nitron 45. It just is so perfect in size, height, weight, and width, and looks, IMO.

From what i ahve heard, the carry models have less felt recoil becuase of the shorter slide, alot of people on sigforum like the carry model more then the standard 220.

Well I just came back from shooting the SIG 220 you all picked out for me. I loved it, doesnt even feel like the recoil from a .45. Even all the holsters for my 229 fit it. I am very happy. I did have some issues with the mags but I will start another post. I will also be selling my 239 in another post, its too small for my big hands.

Thanks all

The slide width is identical, and they use the same frame...

Since you already have some 9mm's I'd say go with a 220 SAO. If it were me, I would be getting a 226 Stainless Elite. Those things sure are pretty :D

*edit* Doh I guess I should read all the posts before replying.
