Well I just came back from shooting the SIG 220 you all picked out for me. I loved it, doesnt even feel like the recoil from a .45. Even all the holsters for my 229 fit it. I am very happy. I did have some issues with the mags but I will start another post. I will also be selling my 239 in another post, its too small for my big hands.

Thanks all

Very cool. Congrats on your new gun!

I bought a 229 in 9mm a little while back. Now I'm itching to buy another 229 in .40 S&W. I've got the bug and my budget is NOT willing to support it

I went the other direction since I have an FN Hi-Power in 9mm. I got the P229 in 357 Sig, then spent the bucks for the 40 S&W barrel.

Which P220??

Congrats, humm, which *P220 did you fire, and wind up choosing?

*The P220R standard, or the P220 Carry?

I'm just a little in the dark, as my P220R standard fits my P229 Carry 9mm's holster as well.

About the mags; was it a feed issue, or hard to load all 8 rounds?

If it is the "the hard to load" issue, then it's just a matter of breaking in the spring. I just loaded 7 (to end the struggle.. lol) at first, and left them loaded until each visit to the range. It only takes about 2 weeks, before you will be able to hand load, easily, all 8 rounds.

Or, will look for your new (other problem with the ) Mag/s problem post.

Thanks Lonestar. I got the carry. And yes I left the mags loaded, I hope they break in soon. Im pretty anxious to carry the 220 and I already ordered a CTAC for it.

What am I saying, I got the New Compact C3 with the beaver tail, not the carry. I like it alot... SIg also gave me a coupon for $100. The will be sending me their new folder knife, for free basically, shipping and all in one week. Not a bad deal.

Have you considered the CZ-97 ?

I have a CZ-97, which is the only 45 ACP offered by CZ.

I have a Sig 226, and I like it. But I find that CZ is as good or better than the Sig in the accuracy department. I think that Sig has done a great job in manufacturing as their products are very refined. But their finish is very fragile in comparison to CZ's finish.

CZ goes for a lot less than Sig, and in my opinion I think that the CZ is a better value.

Not knocking Sigs, cause I have one. But there are other brands other than Sig that deliver same or better accuracy, durability and quality at a lower price.

My inventory:
CZ-75 9mm
CZ-97 45 acp
Glock 17 9mm
Glock 21 45 acp
Sig 226 9mm
and growing......

Any suggestions? 220, 2022 or 232?

I've had the Sig 2022 9mm w/rail for several years now and am very pleased with it. It's accurate, feeds everything, comes w/two grip choices and of all the Sigs I've held or shot, I like the feel of the 2022 the most.

Low price too.

Police Purchase - No Glocks Allowed -

The Sheriff of our little county is a friend and client and knows I love pistols. Came over with a catalog from SIG for the purchase of new department pistols. I was amazed they were NOT Glock people since Glock nearly gives them away here in GA for the cops.

The officers did NOT like the looks, feel etc of the Glocks and voted for SIGS. I got to help with the model and caliber selection.

Went with P220 in .40 cal since we have women detectives and some men with small hands. Ordered some shot triggers too.

Naturally, the Sheriff was grateful for the help and offered me ANY new SIG at police price. DEAR GOD! They are cheap for the cops and well they should be.

Now, which .40 load is the better for duty carry? Thanks for the help.
