Hello Everyone,

What is a good price on the current production Ithaca Model 37 Defense Model in 12 Gauge with the 8-shot magazine and wood furniture?

Is it a better deal to look around for a used model?

Also, does anyone know when Ithaca began installing a disconnector into the design of the Model 37 to prevent it from slam firing (i.e., firing continuously by holding the trigger down and pumping the action)?

Can the disconnector be removed to allow this feature to return to the design?

I have been very interested in buying one. Thank you for your input.

Think they're going for $450 or so. Can't find a used one?

The "Disconnector" feature can be removed from the gun by simply filing the notch in the action bar lock that engages the nub on the side of the hammer. (always modify the cheaper part). The problem is that this just means if you rack the slide with the trigger pulled, you end up with a hammer down on a live round and have to rack the slide a second time (no trigger pressure) to ready the gun to fire.
