I've seen an old Ithaca 37 for sale for less than a new Maverick 88. Its supposed to be in good working order but has some cosmetic blemishes - can I go wrong with this?
It's so obvious it's almost laughable. I'd pick (and have picked) an Ithaca 37 that was encrusted in rust before I'd buy a new Maverick 88. That said, the Maverick 88 is a decent firearm that should give you years of happy service! I actually prefer the Maverick to the Mossberg due to the safety... I don't like a tang safety.
