Ithaca's new 1911

I had to work the IDGA Military Vehicle Trade Show and Expo (in Detroit) last week for my company and while I was walking the aisles one of the exhibitors (based in PA) had two of the new 1911 pistols in their display case.

I asked the guy behind the counter why he had them and he said they were making the 1911's for Ithaca...They are a precision machining, metal stamping and assembly house, I don't want to give out their name because I don't know if it's supposed to be public knowledge that Ithaca is "contracting" these to an "outside house" or not...... but they had the pistols on display...

He pulled them out and let me "play" with them, both were blued one was highly polished with a nice set of cherry grips the other was more of a matte finish with a rubber Pachmeyer style grip. He let me take apart the polished gun, the internals looked very good the feed ramp was not as nicely polished as my Kimber but I'm sure will do the job.

According to him, Ithaca is supposed to be shipping sometime in September. They should do well if they price them to compete with the $700 or so market....if they try and go upscale, I'm afraid they won't do too well...

Thanks for the link, I like the jeweled barrel, hammer, and guide rod. The magazine should not be jeweled though; I looks to busy to see the witness holes, especially with Hornady TAP ammo's nickel cases (my favorite carry choice). The cock serrations look odd but I bet the function better then many I've seen.
