When I first started my interest in shooting, I wasn't the least bit interested in revolvers. My first two handguns were automatics. The 4" Charles Daly I had via private sale when I was 18, then the CZ-97.

Then, I found that Model 25-5. THEN I found the 57. Now I find myself wanting MORE N-Frames, Vaqueros, Blackhawks, Redhawks, even Taurus snubbies.

I bought that Colt, but I don't fondle it like I do my revolvers. I've even contemplated SELLING my poor, neglected CZ-97 to fund another revolver purchase.

What have you people done to me? I'm holding in my hand my M57, a revolver that's as old as I am.

Oh, oh, and it gets better. Not only do I dig sixguns now, I dig ODDBALLS. Am I happy with a shiny, new, stainless .357? No-o-o....I'll have a blued .41 Magnum, please? Or how about .45 Colt? I'll pass on the .44, thanks, give me a .41 or a .45!

I hope you people are :cuss: satisfied.

;)

And even with revolvers, I can't be mainstream. Do I go on raving about the latest whiz-bang 125 grain .357 round, that expands to three feet in diameter and Marhsal & Whatshisname gave a 99%? Oh heck no. I'm talking about Keith bullets in the 270 grain range, or JHPs at 200-250 grains.

But what I should be yapping about, at my age, is the latest neato-torpeedo polymer framed wonderpistol, with rails that I can hang stuff off of.

But NO!

*sigh* What can I say? I like the revolver. It's an elegant weapon, from a more civilized era... :D

Don't worry, we haven't converted you into a n-frame snubby shooter, or a collector of old S&W revolvers yet.

About 10 years ago I became friends with an older gentleman, a PhD in History who writes text books, largely on society in Victorian and Edwardian England...

Anyway, when I first met him, he had a single revolver, a Colt Python.

It's obvious that I've been a very telling influence on him, as now he has something like 18 S&W revolvers, has given the Python to his son, and I believe has reduced the number of semi-autos he owns.

Welcome to the wheel of life... :)

Oh yes indeedy!! :p

Come and join ..... GOA ....... no, not Gun Owners of America ...... Gun Owners Anonymous!! :D

''You see - it was like this ....... I just had this one gun - it seemed enough. But then I joined The High Road ... and then found I had this compulsion .......... no ...... addiction ....... no ... OBSESSION.''

''My name is ****** '' ............. ''and I am a gunoholic'' ....... :p :p :D

The wheel of life.
Goes round n round
Spitting fire and lead
Tis old, but proven

Time and again
Defending house
Giving pleasure
The simple wheel

Is an art form
A museum machine
yet modern as todays sun
And oh so much fun.

Sam......send meds.

I'm in the same boat as you. I bought a pair of SIG's 5 years ago (P220 and P229) and only shot them for the longest time. Now, while they may be perfect examples of semi-auto beauty, nothing compares to my recent revolver purchases. That's all I want to buy now. Those two SIG's may be the only semis I own (except for a 1911 coming....)

You just grew up faster than most. I found that it was much nicer when I wasn't chasing brass all over the place. I'm in the begining stage of being an ol fart. ;)

kwitcher bichin'...

Three years ago, I owned one S&W revolver. Count 'em: one.

Now I own twenty-seven and am lustily searching for number twenty-eight.

Amazing how fast one can develop an appreciation for these antiquated bullet-launchers. :)

(Next up? Need a .22 Mag and a .32 Mag... :uhoh: )

Have you got a 22 Jet, yet, Tamara? Some came with a fitted 22 LR cylinder in addition to the inserts. Never had one but Clark Bros in Warrenton VA had one on display for the longest time. He wanted a pretty penny for it also but I was able to restrain myself. Only came with the inserts, BTW. Box had a hole cut out for the extra cylinder.

I had an older Mod 48 K-22 .22 MRF with 8 3/8" bbl and a blue job to rival the old Pythons of yore. Of course I sold it. :banghead:

It is indeed unfortunate that you’ve been hooked. My lengthy experience tells me that the addiction will get worse. You have already discovered that something that comes from the factory won’t do. What ever it is needs to be modified into something that reflects the true “you.†Fortunately revolvers often lend themselves to this sort of thing. You will eventually discover that the revolver’s (usually) better trigger pull and inherent accuracy will allow you to hit targets at ridiculously long ranges - 200 yards and further. At the other extreme 6-shot/one-hole groups at 50 feet or 25 yards are not unusual. One of these days you may cut a playing card in half edgeways at 10 or 15 feet or so.

The possible ballistics obtainable in revolver cartridges can far exceed that found in commonly available automatic pistols.

Those of us with “limited discretionary funds†noticed long ago that used (and sometimes new) revolvers sell for less then a pistol of equal quality. In the used department this is especially true if you’re willing to forgo the magnums and will settle for an ordinary .38 Special or .22 R.F. These used guns often provide an economical start for a customized gun.

Also, to truly enjoy the full potential of these fine handguns you should get into reloading, if you’re not doing so now. And if or when that happens you’ll find it’s a lot easier ejecting the fired cases into your hand rather then getting down on your hands and knees while trying to find the ones that an autoloader thru under some bush.

Don't really freak until you find yourself lusting aftera NIB Colt Police Psitive in 32 New Police or an SAA in 41 Colt.

If that happens, then you need to worry.

Rob

Nightcrawler..

Your mother warned you about staring into the sun. See what you get now?? :neener:

I too have been thinking more about wheel guns and less about semi-autos..

The GP100 6" was on my list, but from the other thread.. A GP100 4" got added on too..

:banghead: :cuss:

What you need now is a Timberwolf.. Not a wheel gun, but a pump rifle with the same Jenny Craig diet as your wheel guns.. :what:

Or maybe a Marlin 1894...
