I've never had a Taurus autoloader. I've always been fond of the PT-945 in .45, but they're kinda' pricey. Found a clean used one at a reasonable price. It's on the way.

What have I done?

well let us know how it performs at the range. if it's a crapper, since you got so cheap you can probably sell it and not loose anything.

if it's a winner, then you made out like a bandit.

I've bought 2 recently. A 709 which had to go back for repair - bad factory alignment. A Judge whose parts werent even screwed in properly. However, I got the 709 back and it's a Glock now. I expect the Judge to be Judging well when it gets back. The smiths at repair do a pretty good job of cleaning up the mess the factory makes. Good luck, i think you have a potentially great gun there.

Hey me too. I bought a 20 year old blued pt99 last week. The gun is clean and the price was low for california. I have always wanted one because I like the cocked and locked feature. Schmeky you need to post a pic when you get the new pistol. Mark

I've had good luck with Taurus - my PT917 is a tack driver and my 650 revolver is great. My PT24/7c is the one I used through much of my defensive shooting course.

If I had paid Beretta/Smith & Wesson/Springfield prices for those form/factors I would have been able to afford only two of them.

No complaints toward Taurus from me. A friend has a 22B (copy of a Beretta Bobcat) that's one of the most fun handguns between the two of us.

They're no Sig or H&K, but they're also a third of the price.

Considering the way the market seems right now, you're likely to get a lot more than you pay for.

Congrats!!!!

From what I have gleaned Taurus makes a good product. You get a lot for your money. The only common negative that seems to prevail is that customer service can often be quite bad.

I guess you'll find out when you take it to the range. If it's a turd, slide on down to your local dealer and trade/sell it off. I just sort of did the same thing. I've got a 7 shot Tracker in .17HMr on the way. I'm looking forward to it! This will be the first Taurus I've owned. I've shot a couple Raging Bulls in various calibers and been impressed with them.

If it is a good specimen, you will love it. If it is one of their not-too-rare lemon's, good luck. Only one way to find out... give it a good cleaning/lubing, and take it to the range with a few hundred rounds.

How very interesting!!! Using a used Taurus as bait to entice the Taurus degraders out once again, I love it when this happens and it is so easy to accomplish so spectacularly.
I've had just as many good Tauri as I've had Smiths, Colts, Rugers, Astras, H&R, Iver Johnson and many others I can't pull up the names on. I've said it before; guns are just machinery!!!!!!!

Did you have bad luck with yours reaper? Thats too bad. I have had good luck, I hope you were able to get your issues resolved or at least sell the gun and get your money back from it.

I have two Taurii and they've been good. One, The Judge, was guilty of misconduct in office as received NIB. The hand didn't turn the cylinder.
I found a plunger with a spring stuck in a hole bored in the trigger assembly, cleaned the dirt and grease out of the hole and the gun worked fine. No clean room assembly at Taurus HQ for sure:cool:
My PT1911 has been flawless.

Pt 1911

A great gun. Not just for the price. Not as spiffy or as smooth as, say, a Kimber, but it goes bang just as often and just as accurately. For maybe half the price.

The chances are you will be fine with your Taurus. If it should need repair you may find a rather challenging situation, or not. Enjoy the gun, and, if problems arise, deal with them then, but don't let a lot of "mights" ruin your day.

Great Gun

I bought a used (2nd Gen) PT145 about a year ago and have put about 500 rnds through it so far...I know, I need to shoot more...LOL It has never had one FTF or any sort of problem at all during this time. Its my EDC piece and sleeps on nightstand every night.
As a side note, a friend saw my gun and loved it and went out an bought one. I cleaned it good for him and he has since shot it and loves it more than his Kahr 40!
