Promised myself id buy a new toy before i left to work up in alaska this go around as soon as my car sold and low and behold...im hoofing it now :D

I was wanting you guys to give me your input on what to get. I havent quite found what ive been looking for so maybe you could help a youngin out.

It doesnt matter if its used, but id probably prefer it as you can get more bang for your buck in the 400$ market if used...if thats not the case please let me know with an example and i will pull the foot right out of my mouth :)

What I am looking for: Light, CCW worthy, Single action trigger. Capacity isnt that big a deal as long as it has at least 8 in the mag.

What im not looking for:A full size (5 inch) gun. I carried a 1911 and a witness elite match 10mm in alaska last time, but didnt carry them nearly as much because they were a bear to conceal. I am looking to have a lighter carry gun for everyday carrying.

I didnt just come up and ask without doing any research though :p I have seen that they offer a fnp9 that might fit the bill quite nicely. A glock19 might fit the bill as well (not SA but maybe with a 3.5lb connector?) . What do you all think and do you have any other suggestions?

How about two used ($200ea.) CZ-82s.....One for each hip. :D

13 rounds (per hip) of 9x18 Mak.....Not the lightest but easy enough to conceal. All steel, durable, reliable, ambidextrous, 3 dot sites and very accurate. Can be carried cocked & locked if you want all the shots to be single action or put the hammer down and go DA/SA.

Here's what ya get for approx. $225 out the door.

I love my CZ 82. Not SAO, but very light and smooth DA trigger, with the best little SA pull out there.

And as mentioned, you can carry cocked and locked quite easily. And for $400, you can get the gun, extra mags, which ever holster you want, and >500 rounds.

Out of curiosity, FastCast, how the heck did you navigate SOG's website? Every link returns to the dadgummed homepage.

Did the link work for you?......In the top right corner of their home page you'll see the "search" function....I typed in "CZ", that's all. :)

BTW....The 82 is on page 2 of the CZ results.

Thanks for that suggestion. I have been eyeballing these for quite some time. Any other recommendations guys? I like to research and compare different models until my eyes are crossed before buying so any input helps.

Check out these two 45's

Kahr Arms PM45, this is probably the most concealable .45 there is, its freaking tiny.

the Glock 30.

you need something good and reliable in the $400 used range I'd say you're in prime GLOCK country a used 19/23 would be a good all around choice...if you need heavier caliber-wise a used G30 or a 10mm might be worth considering. Nothing in the 1911 price-range wise I'd trust even used

If it was me, I'd save up another $200 and find myself a nice used Colt Mustang.

You would be hard pressed to ever find a better quality single-action pistol meeting all of your criteria. Slip the Mustang into a nice wallet holster and you're good to go ... especially if you're a fan of the venerable 1911.

2nded on the CZ PO-7 (even though it doesn't meet the SAO) 16+1, very light, very accurate. Could be a little rough on the body if worn without an undershirt.

Although I am a long time shooter and fan of 1911s/Glocks, I would highly recommend you check out Taurus Mil Pro PT145. 45 ACP, 10 round double stack magazine with very good ergonomics (same grip angle as 1911/Sig 226), SA/DA 5lb multi-strike trigger, and around/under $350-$400. It is a natural pointer with a very good grip.

At the recommendation of my range staff, I got one last year and it feeds/chambers every factory/reloads reliably - especially the 200 gr SWC. Surprisingly, the length is actually shorter than my Glock 27. The more I shoot it, the more I like it. The width is similar to the Glock and actually uses the same Fobus holster as Springfield XD. It is a very carryable small 45 pistol.

Set the past comments about Taurus PT pistol aside and look/handle the 3rd generation PT145. You will pleasantly be surprised - all of my other match shooters have and many have bought it with surprising satisfaction.

There aren't too many single-action concealable handguns that sell for under $400. A Star BM might be an option, if you can find one, but they are still a bit heavy. Glocks and other striker-type pistols are more readily available. If you can buy used or get one at a law enforcement price, a Glock 19 would fit the bill.

Taurus Mil Pro PT145... 3rd generation

I'm on the bubble about this, bds. While I find this model to be one of the most amazingly size-efficient pistols I've ever held and I find the ergonomics to be incredible, I have a reservation about the reliability. My friend and I got ours at the same time. They're even consecutively numbered. Yet while I've had great experience with mine, he's had nothing but trouble with his. That has soured me a bit. But it is a wonder of engineering that thing.

Dr 2 B, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of troubles has your friend had with the Mil Pro PT145? Can you elaborate?

FTF & FTE. In defense of the gun I know he uses a looser grip than I do so there may be some measure of limp-wristing. I believe a lot of the limp-wristing phenomena is overblown, but it may have some part in his troubles. OTOH his Sig doesn't do it.
