If you get the chance I suggest you try the H&K USP Compact in 9mm. The high capacity mags are 13 rounds for the compact USP.
I like the feel of the H&K USP Compact in my hand. It feels like the grip area is smaller in diameter than the Glock 19 grip. I also like the way the H&K USP Compact points when I aim at a target. For me, when I raise the weapon, the front sight just seems to hover right on target without any effort.
The H&K USP Compact is hammer fired DA/SA function with an external safety/decocker. The compact version comes with a bobbed hammer.
I love mine, but would never get rid of my Glock 19 in favor of the H&K USP Compact. Luckily, I live in the good old U. S. of A. and I can have both!
Thanks for the pointers. The SR9c was not even on my radar but it looks like it might do the trick. Not real hot on magazine safeties but I'll have to ponder that. I looked at the FNs and the Walther but have not found one to hold in the hand and the rental range does not have either.
HKs have always been more money than I have really been willing to put down for a pistol, though they do look like they would fit the bill.
IdahoSkies, I bought a SIG P239 SAS Gen 2 last year and I can't say enough good things about it. 10-round magazines are available as are night sights and a short reset DA/SA trigger (which mine has). I have two P225s which I've always considered to be among the best single stack 9mm pistols ever designed. But honestly, the P239 is in that group. It's easy to carry, extremely accurate and so far has been superbly reliable. I plan on adding a P239 in .40 S&W this year. I do shake my head a bit as to why SIG didn't design the P239 to use P225 magazines ... how hard could it be?!
