In the 2011 Standard Catalog of Firearms I don't see any .22LR under Rheinmetial but correct me if I'm wrong but if it's a .22LR it would have to have U.S. origins.

It seems to be in good shape though.

Klienguenther Distinctive Firearms of Sequin, TX was a producer/importer of centerfire rifle that boasted a minimum 1/2 MOA accuracy. Many of these were outfitted with a muzzlebreak of their manufacture. My 2009 Catalog doesn't list KDF, they dissappeared about 2001.

That KDF or Mr. K., after he sold KDF in the early 1980's imported a Mauser style training rifle is evidenced by your query. It seems unusual but the proof is before us. KDF did import .22's a K-15 and K-22 I can find were more expensive, manufactured by Voere.

For the record Germans have built .22 rimfire firearms for a very very long time.

Sometimes an item is what it looks like.
I see a very plain inexpensive .22 single shot made by Rheinmetall in West Germany before the "reunification" and imported here by Kleingunther in Texas.

The true test is what can it do at 100 yards?
good .22 are anything but inexpensive. Look up Walthers or Kimber 82's or some of the Russian guns like the Vostok.

Rheinmetall was also the producer of the MG 42, and the 88mm FLAK gun among others for the Third Reich. They also produced a very complicated, but nifty little .32 auto between the wars.
