Iver Johnson M1 carbine... quality??

I'm looking at a Iver Johnson M1 carbine. It is in 99% condition, wood is good, it's a commemorative with a badge in the stock. I've been hunting for a M1 and the ones I see either more money or in lesser condition. The WWII CMP carbines I come across are going for the same money or more than what this private seller is asking.

This gun is a 50th anniversary edition, made in 1991. Are they made well, reliable and accurate? I'm looking for a shooter, not a safe queen. He's asking $625.

I have handled several commercial IJ Carbines but have never shot one. The qualityseems to be equal to the GI Carbines and afterall IJ did manufacture GI Carbines during WWll. What it boils down to "do you want the thrill of shooting a GI Carbine vs a commercial one". If it were me, I'd opt for a GI one. The asking price for the commercial IJ is a little on the hgh side in my opinion. Check Gunbroker and some of the other auction sites to get an idea on a selling price.

I thought iver johnsons were more of a $450 gun. better than universal, less good than usgi, with the older ones being better than the newer ones because they used more surplus GI parts. but I am not an expert, just passing along the results of the research I did a couple years ago.

loaded round is right, check GB etc to determine price. and remember, a gun with zero bids is probably priced too high.
