Who'da thunk THIS??:

http://iverjohnsonarms.com/

Iver Johnson lives again! HA! Wow. When I saw this I said "dang girl!" and was like all "wuhhh???" in a Tim Allen sort of way. Looks as if Iver is making a new .22 four shot derringer style pepperbox type pistol. Pretty cool. I had no idea this old company was out there making guns in 2017. Just thought you guys might wanted to have known!!

Might be a cool piece, but can it actually compete in the pocket-.22 hideout gun category with the NAA mini-revolver? Also, does the IJ have means of extracting spent shells? They typically don't just fall out.

Now, that .45! That's intriguing!

Not sure what that means or what language it is ... But anyway, the news of Iver Johnson's resurrection came out a while back; the company is making some interesting-looking 1911s for what seems decent prices (for nicely-finished 1911s), but the only thing is, I personally have never seen one out in the wild and it seems they've been in production for some time. So I'm not holding my breath about seeing this little derringer thingy on dealers' shelves anytime soon, either ...

Thanks for the video! Had heard rumors of the 4 shot derringer but this the first that I have actually seen one.

I bet Tinker could whip one of the .22 derringers up....

Old Dog......It's Millineal. I hear it all the time at work. ;)

IF IJ was thinking straight they would rebirth the Trailsman .22LR Colt Woodsman Clone.

Not everyone today wants a plastic S&W with a stolen name, a Browning Spring o matic or even a Ruger.

Straight forward, works every time, simple, low cost semi auto with no bells or whistles might sell right nicely.

Also if the hearing protection bill passes they are likely easy to surpress.......

I got one of their 9mm officer sized 1911s (Thrasher is the model) in polished blue about middle of last year for carry. So far it has been absolutely reliable (probably just around 800 or so rounds down it though) and the fit and finish are pretty decent considering the cost.

I had thought the C. Sharps type thoroughly obsolete in today's world, but evidently I was mistaken. The barrel catch is different on the new gun but there is a lot more that is similar than different.

Perhaps Iver Johnson will offer something of the sort in a caliber larger than .22LR.

Sorry old dawg! I was using that young punk whipper snapper don't know nothin' about nothin' in MY day speak. :D

I've seen one of their 1911's at a lgs. It was a huge surprise to me because I didn't realize the company still existed.

I think it is simply a matter of resurrecting an old brand name. From the IJ web site:

We do not have any parts, guns, records, or info related to the older Iver Johnson products made before 2005. Please contact your local gun dealer for any questions related to older Iver Johnson products. Thank you.

The Iver Johnson 1911s are made in the Philippines. The new brand has nothing to do with the old Iver Johnson Company. Which is probably a good thing. In 1960, an IJ Trailsman 66 was my first handgun, at the insistence of my Dad who had an IJ Sealed 8 when he was a kid. The 66 went back to the factory twice and still would not index correctly. Dad finally let me trade it for a Ruger Single Six which is what I wanted in the first place. So different company, different guns. But I can carry this grudge for 57 years and would not buy one today. But the Sharps derringer concept is cool.

The trade name Iver Johnson was owned by the same family that owns the Henry Repeating Arms company, till they sold it 2 or 3 years back.
The current IJ has no relationship whatever to the original company.

That derringer was debuted at SHOT a couple years back, but never put into production.
I talked to the IJ people at SHOT this year, they hope to have it out by summer.
