I'm wondering if there is anything out there that is IWB leather, and runs 4 o clock, slight cant and runs 1 loop or clip just ahead of the pistol. As in right around 3 o'clock it will affix to your belt just in front of the rear sight. This could keep the holster compact, thin, not invasive, and nothing around back to be sitting on.

I strongly believe that just having it fixed at the front of the holster will keep the pistol from rolling forward and be all that is needed. Providing you have a good belt!

For IWB a Sparks Criterion is pretty comfortable. It rides at 4-5 o'clock. The comfort of the Criterion comes from it's steep holster angle. Swept enough that one is not sitting on the holster and gun.

A Sparks VM2 (I have both a Sparks VM2 and a Criterion) is identical to the Criterion with the exception of the holster angle. The holster angle on the Criterion is more. The Criterion is noticeably more comfortable than the VM2.

Generally, holster makers don't put the clip or loop forward of the gun, especially for strong side carry, because that would generally cause the holster to rotate the grip away from the body and compromise concealment.

However, there are many that put the clip/loop aft of the holster

You may be able to find appendix inside the waistband (AIWB) holsters that put the clip/loop forward of the gun, but they are generally straight drop, and not intended for strong side carry.

Have you thought about the point I made above?

Note the description in the Andrews MacDaniel II referencing the trailing loop...

A spring steel reinforcement plate is contained within the rear flange. This prevents 'foldover' of the flange. More importantly, it creates a stiffened paddle over which the belt lays when the holster is worn. This pulls the butt of the weapon up firmly against the side.

With a leading loop/clip, I'd expect it to function the complete opposite and lever the grip out and away from the body.

Ya I hear you. I think if it's possible, which I don't know that yet, the front would have to be on a flexible piece of leather so it's only duty is to hold the pistol from rolling forward/down with no tension twisting the butt around. I agree if the holster was any sort of stiff leather the butt would be "pulled" away from the body.

Thanks for pointing this stuff out. It is helpful.

I'm looking for as minimal holster as possible. I'm only 150lb and 33" waist. I don't have much room to hide stuff. I can tuck subcompact in a rigid belt and it works good. Just after sitting and standing some it tends to want to roll forward and down. Unless I run the belt tighter which compromises comfort.

Here's a review Jason Burton (Heirloom Precision - pistol smith) did on the 5 Shot Leather IBS (Inside Burton Special - named after Jason Burton) focusing on the basic "Summer Special" style on how it may be a better option for thinner folks.

There are lots of companies making this "Summer Special" style of holster popularized by the Milt Sparks holster company.

While I suspect many don't do it with leather holsters, many folks using kydex IWB holsters with compact guns, use the holster for the larger version of the gun to provided extra stability inside the pants, such as using a holster for a Glock G17 for either a G19 or a G26.

I don't. However, 5 Shot leather has an excellent reputation across the internet gun forums for quality products. https://www.5shotleather.com

Milt Sparks (Bruce Nelson actually) originated the basic Summer Special design. https://www.miltsparks.com

It is copied by nearly every holster maker. Some examples...

The Changeling and Indiscernable have as far forward single loop design you are may be likely to find if you want to carry at 4 o’clock with a forward cant. There are alot of options with a straight drop and a single true “Leading” loop, but they are designed as AIWB carry.
The Lobo Gunleather Deep Cover uses the Ulticlip and looks to have an adjustable cant. The OP seems to be looking for a minimalist leather package, and this may work (having the best attachment method?)
