IWB holster getting weapon drenched with moisture

I've been carrying my Sig P226 for about a month now, and when trying to conceal it i wear my IWB style holster. This is the holster i bought- http://www.desantisholster.com/028.html

After wearing it for about an hour while working, there's a few spots of moisture on the side of the gun that sits against my body. after a couple hours or more, the entire side of the gun is drenched. when i'm not worried about concealing it, as in when i'm not going to be around people, i wear my on the hip holster, and it doesnt get any moisture at all on it.

are all IWB holsters like this? is there any thing i can do to waterproof the leather so the gun isnt dripping wet?

I have never had that problem with any of my Milt Sparks holsters and I live in wonderful hot humid, NC. High yesterday was 95 with a humidity in the 90s.

Are you wearing a t-shirt underneath?

My first thought too was that you are wearing it directly against your skin. There needs to be a shirt between the holster and you.

yes i do wear an undershirt to separate the holster from my body. i would think having spent 70 dollars on a holster would have at least kept moisture off of it.

Don't hesitate to call the manfacturer, pronto! Ask what can be done and see if that helps. The manufacturers don't want to have unhappy people grousing about their products in the "net" and, in my experience, have been only too happy to render assistance if at all possible.

No. I carry IWB all the time in a Mika's holster

I never have a problem with sweat around the gun--and it's 95 degrees where I am now. I have 3 holsters from him and I love them all. As his website states, "Mika's Pocket Holsters are constructed from a moisture resistant material which will keep the inner surface of the holster dry. Also, Mika's Pocket Holsters will prevent the corrosive effects of harmful body salts from reaching the surface of your firearm."

They are also priced right. Personally, I've never liked leather IWB hoslters--too uncomfortable, especially when it's hot out.

I can soak through a Summer Special in an afternoon of beating the banks at some local farm ponds. I don't sweat excessively, but it gets hot down here. I just wipe the gun down with oil and let the holster dry. Its amazing what a good parkerized finish can resist.

That sorta thing is a concern for all of us

That's one of the reasons why I 'usually' carry with Kydex. I also try to wipe down & clean any gun I carry once a week even if I don't shoot it.

I had a big scare with rust last Fall. I was a very rainy day and I was totally drenched. In addition to hunting, I also did some target shooting with my favorite rifle. When I got home I forgot to wipe / down, clean my firearms. Two weeks later when I pulled them out for fun in the woods

So now I'm much more conscious that I sweat on my carry piece and the surface needs to be thoroghly wiped down even in the smallest creases / dents / grooves. It is absolutely shocking how fast a rust spot can develop.
