I HAVE A J C HIGGINS SOLD BY SEARS . IT IS 12 GA. PUMP AND HAS A FACTORY POWER PAC SCREW IN CHOKE SYSTEM WITH VENT HOLES. I HAVE ALL THREE CHOKES. THERE IS A OPEN SPOT FROM THE BARREL TO THE SCREW IN CHOKE. SOME ONE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT SAFE TO SHOOT BECAUSE THE PLASTIC WAD COULD OPEN AND GET STUCK AND CLOG THE OPENING TO THE SCREW IN CHOKE TUBE. IS THERE REALY A PROBLEM OR JUST SOME ONE WANTING TO ACT LIKE A KNOW IT ALL.
THANKS

I have a Higgins bolt shotgun 12 ga. with the same choke on it. I have been told the same thing because of the gap that the plastic wad must jump before it hits the choke tube. I tried several modern shells in mine and have not had it happen. A friend of mine has shot boxes of shells through his for years with no problem. That said, I would be very careful as it seems conceivable that it could happen and the results would be bad Ju Ju. I wish things were set in stone, but they are not. Be careful.
