I have a decent old long barreled tube feed jc higgins 12 gauge,it shoots brass end shells fine most of the rime..no problem, but usually all I can find are aluminum end, they are finiky as crap, anyway I'm gonna have the barrel shortened, beed reinstalled, but can the tube and lifter and stuff be took out so i can shoot it as a single shot..i shoot it single anyway most of the time..tired of the lifter contraption go In up and down..thoughts..

If you're talking about the J C Higgins Model 20 pump, look up the disassembly & reassembly videos on YouTube by Ryeonham. You may see something there that helps.

Didn't realize I didn't say bolt action. Ooops..still having trouble feeding..i took everything/lifter out. Was simple,Except I left the empty tube because it fastens to the barrel to keep it from wobbling.can I radius the entry/exit port so I can feed it shells easier..im assu.ing I can..

Those were not the most reliable shotguns made. The lifter is very flimsy, for want of a better word. I have seen several that had the lifter removed and a piece of hardwood fitted in its place to make a single shot feed ramp.

It's just a back door varment gun..alwys fires.i yanked all the lifter out, drove out a pin.and added the box back that snaps in with a double shimmed piece of Pepsi can.to block the hole.shells slide right in..heck I can load it bout as fast as the lifter..thanks..
