Chrome bore and FN action, doesn't get any better for a field gun.
This may all be true, but the 50, and I believe the 51 were made on FN commercial actions. There is no stripper clip cutout or other military features. These Belgian bolta actions are some of the finest Mausers ever made and the only ones ever produced origionally in 30-06. After WWII we left them with millions of 30-06 rounds, they were developing the FN 49/FAL so they manufactured the Mausers in 30-06 for military use. Many went to the Congo, the rest remained in Europe. When the FN49 was accepted they surplused the remaining military receivers and barrels and sold them as sporter guns in the US. I have a 1948 FN Mauser that is an absolute dream to shoot and accurate beyond belief. I load 180g soft point .310 bullets that knock large deer completely off their feet.
