I acquired a Jennings J-22 and the sear is not engaging the firing pin. It moves up and down with the trigger, just never catches the firing pin. Any suggestions?

I've heard of tons of them not engaging the firing pin when you rack the slide because somebody took the gun apart and put the sear in facing the wrong direction.
