Jersey City man shot in face by cop was trying to rob him, source says
By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
January 11, 2010, 1:27PM

Kwadir Felton, 18, was shot in the face by a Jersey City police officer last night. He remains at the Jersey City Medical Center under arrest. The man shot in the face by a Jersey City cop last night was trying to rob the cop at gunpoint, a source told The Jersey Journal this morning.

The source, who was not authorized to speak on the record, said that at least two undercover officers were involved in an operation near the corner of Dwight Street and Bergen Avenue last night at about 8:30 when Kwadir Felton, 18, approached one of the officers, who was not in uniform.

Felton, the source said, pulled a gun on the cop and attempted to rob him before he was shot in the face.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio did not release any information on the shooting and said that the state Attorney General's Office is handling the investigation. A spokesman for the Attorney General's Office said a statement would be issued today.

Felton is being treated at the Jersey City Medical Center.

Posting a skeletal newspaper story about a shooting incident with zero discussion has little applicability to learning useful lessons re. S&T. If there's more, bring it on. Otherwise...

There are a few lessons here:
1. Guy must have been shot with a 9mm because we all know how puny the 9mm is and a .45 would have completely obliterated his head.
2. Dont go to New Jersey.

All joking aside the only thing I gleaned was a useful reminder to be ready at all times.

I agree...................another 9mm survivor.

This is one example of how this is being viewed by New Jersey Residents in Jersey City..........4 pages of this crap already on the web. Just had to post to show the negativity against LEO..........

"Yeah good job...shoot the suspect in the HEAD! Guess the 18 yr old's body wasn't a big enough target! If shooting the suspect was absolutely necessary...why not shoot him in the leg so he can't run? Now this person is BLIND. Mission Accomplished!"

Now you know why you can't get a CCL here in NJ.

Officer and JCPD will probably face civil suits next..........................

Free America, read this and thank God for your many blessings.

Uh... another article says that it was a .45

"Felton then appeared at the driver's side window pointing the handgun at the officer who fired one round from his .45 caliber service weapon and the bullet smashed through the car window, striking Felton, Aseltine said."

Poor thread title. Sounded like the cop was trying to rob someone and then shot them in the face.

I also opened this thread expecting to read about a man in Jersey City who was shot by a cop as the cop tried to mug him.
