Jesse Stone on NOW!

It's a great series. I'm Tivo'ing it now. Someone said he carried a S&W Gunsite in a Galco Yaqui paddle holster. I think Michael Bane said that in one of his blogs. I know he has a 1911 commander sized of some sort but the only Jesse Stone on dvd (for a couple more weeks anyway) is Stone Cold and that doesn't have a good shot of it.

So, can anyone verify which 1911 he uses?

Last time I was at GUNSITE, they mentioned that Tom Selleck had been out several times and that eventually in the Jesse Stone series he would mention that he was a GUNSITE instructor.

They asked, "Gee Michael, how come you don't come out and do a class with Tom?"

Ask me, I said!

Michael B

Mr Bane, that would be a fantastic episode of Shooting Gallery, Tom Selleck at Gunsite! Of course, I'm sure that thought had occured to you...

its good to see Selleck playing a detective again, best memories of childhood are magnum pi, quincy, and rockford files.

As to his 1911, it looks like he was using a matte stainless Taurus when it was inserted into the jail locker.

My wife DVR'd it when she noticed the listing.
Please don't give away too much and I'll try not to look at this thread until I watch it.

While not trying to give away too much, in terms of gun action its pretty slow.

Until the end. :)

I love the show, He is just plain cool, warts and all. I love a hero with flaws but manages to overcome them.I certainly relate to the divorce part. That and the fact that young babes seem to fall all over him. Gives me hope!

Anyone catch the number of times he talked about "Unintended Consequences" ;)

As far as gunplay this one was a little slow, but still delivered. Notice he put multiple shots into the BG, shot until the threat was stopped. So far in each one of the stories he has included some fundemental, but true to life and basic gun use rules. Tom is educating viewers through the use of a good story.

The other element I really like is he really plays the sheep dog angle well as Jesse Stone. He will go outside the law, to preserve the law. Kind of an Old west angle.

I hope they keep the shows coming.

I just watched the episode and while shots of Selleck's 1911 are fairly quick, throught the miracle of the pause button I have postively identified it as a S&W Gunsite pistol.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

Jesse Stone is a good series. I was disappointed that he accepted the Las Vegas series job. That'll mean more time in between Jesse Stone episodes. I've grown fond of the character.

Great, just yesterday I told my DVR to stop recording CBS at 9pm because the Unit's done for the season. Jesse Stone was running at the time, but only about 5min in so I didnt realize it was gun-related as I hit the delete button.

What's the show about?

No spoilers included

They changed the story fairly drastically from the book. I expected that, because the story in the book is too complicated for two hours, at least for two hours that include lots of atmospheric shots of Jesse brooding at the water's edge while his dog watches.

In the books he carries his old backup revolver from Los Angeles at first, and then gradually begins to carry the department issue SIG. Of course, in the books he's also about thirty five years old, six foot tall and 175 pounds, which doesn't really describe Tom Selleck very well.

By the way, a related series of books by Robert Parker, the Sunny Randall series, also has some appearances by Jesse Stone. Randall is a Boston private eye and her character was invented with Helen Hunt in mind.

Parker's latest has a LOT of appearances of Jesse and Sunny, woo, woo.

Kharn, it is NOT much gun related except in that Jesse is a cop, carries a gun, and shoots one (1.0) mobster. But he does it well.

I dvr'd it too....I'm watching it tonight.....Sellick took a role on Las Vagas?I guess I'll have to start watching it next season.

I read in one of the TV Trade rags that Selleck contracted to do 6 of the Jesse Stone made for TV movies.

Was this one third or fourth in the series?

And ... did they put a new guy in as his deputy "Suitcase"?

People just love Tom Selleck in the detective role. I dropped in the movie about halfway. It's solid. Character is solid. Can see why people like it. Especially gunnies.
Yeah, I saw him check his 1911 at the prison. Nice piece. Betting it's Tom's personal sidearm.
