So apparently my AR can shoot down airplanes. At least according to Jessie Jackson.

Has anyone seen/heard a correction by media other than Fox since this interview on Monday?

Sadly, there are those in this country that would believe this BS. :banghead:

I'd bet birds have brought down more civilian aircraft than guns.

Looks like truth is just one more thing that took the last train for the coast, the day, the muuuusic died.

the link comes with multiple ads that stack.

perhaps there is another way to bring his comments to us?

The truth from the media? Now that sounds like a great idea. How do we get that made into a law?

My 14 year old cousin shot down a Piper Cub with a .22 Hornet Winchester Model 43 bolt-action about 50 years ago.

Does that count?

I think it counts when it's got a .22 Hornet hole in the crankcase and loses all it's oil in flight!!

Personally, I think Jessie Jackson should stick to setting a good example as a reverend and otherwise shut his trap.

Things like banging other women than his wife, making threatening statements like wanting to cut Obama's nuts off, and claiming the religious title of "reverend" even though he dropped out of seminary.

You know...all those good character traits people expect of a fine, upstanding married reverend.

Oh, well...bray loud enough and long enough about anything else and people ignore these things.

Funny, he's had nothing to say to the press about his son and daughter in law's pending indictments and resignations from elected office.

First time in recorded history a guy with a camera couldn't find Jesse Jackson.

"Shoot down a plane"? That depends, would he be on the plane?

Jesse Jackson has made a living extorting money from businesses. If anyone can squeeze money out of another person's misery, it's Jesse Jackson.

A Piper Cub has a glide ratio of 10:1 or better (some sources start it at 9:1), meaning it can glide unpowered 10 times further than it was high. So from an altitude of roughly 500 feet (the range at which one might conceivably hit one with a rifle), it could lose power and safely glide down about a mile from where it happened. It comes down, alright, but not like a sack of potatoes.

A 747 has a glide ratio of about 17:1. Unpowered from 1000 ft, it can make a runway over 3 miles away. By the time I could score enough hits to somehow silence all four engines (which I can't do, nor can anyone else), the aircraft would already be close enough to the runway to safely land.

If I attack it with an AR on takeoff, all bets are off re: glide ratio. But causing enough damage to bring one down still can't be done.

What Church he a Reverend at?

He's not and never has been.

He dropped out of seminary waby back when.. early sixties I believe. Assumed the title "Reverend", because there isn't really anything which says you can't.

I believe he got an honorary degree for that in 2000, but I'd have to look it up. I guess that'd technically make him one, then. Except I thought he gave that title up s few years back over the aftermath with that affair he had while he was counseling Bill Clinton over his affair with Monica Lewenski.

Whatever. He has no credibility with me anyway, regardless of how much limelight he likes to capture over stupid stuff.

Unfortunately he has not faded from relevancy. People still pay attention to him and still elect him. That makes him dangerous in addition to being completely ignorant.
