Obviously the cartoonist doesn't look at real crime statistics or deal with reality on a regular basis. I doubt if he cares if 1,500,000 violent crimes are stopped with firearms compared to the 34,000 firearms related deaths each year.

+1 on the unfired. Someone must have been reloading a nasty bunch of undeformed, once used bullets!
They could all easily begin with "This bullet could have saved..." instead of "this bullet killed".
*sarcasm mode on* I do hate it when bullets kill innocent people. They are just sitting there out in the open like that, not being loaded in a gun, nobody pulling a trigger, and BAM, they kill your best friend! It's a shame what inanimate objects have become!

Thanks qlajlu. I found this cartoon in the metro of the Sacramento Bee. Borgmans filth is syndicated all over. The best part was that this was not normal political cartoon size in the paper, it was 7"x7" centered with anti-gun letters from city dwelling citizens of Norcal surrounding it. Shows the mentality around here.

Out of 42 comments I only counted 2 or 3 that supported the position of the cartoonist.

Garbage like that caused me to stop buying newspapers over 25 years ago. Don't regret the decision.

Amen to that!!! It adds insult to injury that I pay for liberal media to enter my home.:banghead: However, Thursdays paper always has good cupons on ammo for the local gun shops / big box stores. qlajlu just might get his .357's after all.

Haven't bought a Zits book since I saw stuff like that. Used to really enjoy the strip, too.
Don't even have a paper delivered, the only newspaper I have here is the town's free weekly paper; I use that to wrap items to be sent out.

Take a deep breath guys; The Cincinnati Enquirer is considered to be the conservative newspaper in this town, which is one reason I take it.
Jim Borgman, it is true, leans left, but many times his insights are right on (pun intended). He didn't get this one right, but that is to be expected. He is the resident liberal on this paper.
I have met Jim, and I think he is a decent guy, just a little misguided on some issues. As Zund pointed out, most replys were negative to Jim's position.

Yes, Jim is our local (Cincinnati) controversy-stirrer. Success has gone to his head and his arrogance often shows through.
Locally, we have a lot of criminal-on-criminal (usually black-on-black) violence. There are occasionally some innocent bystanders who get hurt or killed. Unfortunately, more guns in the hands of good people will not have a direct effect on this crime. Indirectly, it might. Our biggest problems with violence locally are: 1) lack of jail space, and 2) people being unwilling to come forward and testify against their out of control neighbors (often because of genuine threats of retaliation and the fact that, due to lack of jail space, these creeps are back on the street after serving little or no time.
But it's easier to just blame the guns and bullets.

I lived in Cincinnati for four years (1992-96) and got a regular dose of Borgman's Commie-leaning cartoons. He was and is consistently anti-Second Amendment and I don't give a damn how "nice" he is, he's hurting me and my country with his political activism.
The Enquirer raised my blood pressure on a daily basis with it's Commie rhetoric. I was very happy when I moved. I was amazed at how many anti-gun Republicans were in office in and from Ohio (both U.S. Senators from Ohio are anti-gun Republicans). Sad situation.

The only thing that worries me about this cartoon is the fact that it made it into the cali newspapers. 90% of the people that read those will agree with him, 5% will use it to further form an anti-gun position, and only the final 5% will immediately dismiss it as BS. Most Cali conservatives ( yes, they do exist) will get there news either online or from out-of-state sources.

As someone participating in journalism, he has a responsibility to be well-educated before throwing this sort of stuff out to the people to be absorbed as reality.
He did not. He failed at that.
As a result, people are being MISLED as to reality, and think that this cartoon expresses the truth..when nothing could be further.
As a participant in a responsible, free press, he has failed.
I hope you can convey that to him.
And I like some of the sentiments on that blog, like this one:
