In a recently posted article on Worldnetdaily, John Kerry admits to owning "A Chinese Assault Rifle. Hmm. Isn't that interesting
 
Similar to the Kerry word-twisting concerning his SUV. i.e., "oh, those aren't MY SUVs, they belong to the family" comes this explanation of the statement

Kerry Blames Aides in Assault Rifle Flap

John Kerry is denying he ever told a magazine interviewer that he owned a Communist Chinese assault rifle, blaming the comment instead on campaign aides who, he insists, made the story up.

"My favorite gun is the M-16 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam," Kerry is quoted as saying in the October issue of Outdoor Life. "I don't own one of those now, but one of my reminders of my service is a Communist Chinese assault rifle."
It turns out, however, that the gun quotes weren't Kerry's at all - or so he maintains, claiming now that those words were actually written by his staff, who never checked with him.
Kerry aide Michael Meehan explained to the New York Times that his boss's interview with the sports magazine consisted of a four-page written account of his hunting experience, which, the Times noted, included "long conversational answers using first-person pronouns."

Meehan said Kerry's Chinese assault rifle was actually a single-bolt-action military rifle that he "keeps as a relic" and has never fired.

If it's a relic he took home from Vietnam, however, the top Democrat may still not be off the hook.

"If Kerry brought the gun home from the war as a souvenir he could be subject to court-martial," NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam told the Times.

So, why did Kerry staffers impersonate Kerry for the interview? And how did they know that he had saved a gun - relic or no - from his Vietnam days?

Meehan didn't say.

A spokesman for Outdoor Life did not respond to a Times request for comment.

A bolt action rifle first made by the Russians over 100 years ago?! My lord, Kerry owns a MOSIN-NAGANT!

That's just wrong. He doesnt' DESERVE to own a Mosin.

Of course, the fact that the fellow thinks a Mosin-Nagant is a "Chinese Communist Assault Rifle" is pretty darn amusing.
 
Brought back a war trophy becomes got an old relic from a friend? Does this guy even recognize whether he happens to be telling lies ?

Probably a new correction of the correction coming soon. Kerry wouldn't want to give the impression that a private transaction took place without the necessary government intrusion.

This man has hunted since the age of 12 including deer(crawling on his belly) and he owns ONE double barrelled shotgun and a 100 year old rifle he has NEVER fired. Yea I really believe that. I guess he is a long time fisherman and he owns one hook. Do you think he knows what stink bait is that you catch catfish with. Does he have his own homemade recipe as I do. Heck does he know aht a dang catfish is!!!!!!!!!!!:neener:

Kerry is just playing to the "Elmer Fudd" crowd. Sadly, it works. :banghead:
 
Does anyone besides me have a problem with a magazine -- any magazine -- passing off a bunch of written responses as an "interview"?

An interview is what happens when a reporter sits down with a person of interest, talks directly to them, and asks questions ... first-hand, in real time. Sending out a questionaire does not IMHO qualify as conducting an "interview."

This means that, as the Manchurian Candidate, whenever he sees an AK47 (or look alike varient) he is triggered (reminded) to promote the Communist cause, including banning said firearms in the USA.
 
Flip-Flopping means you actually have to take a position long enough to change it, and he doesn't..

I am getting old and may have failing memory, but I am sure that Kerry made that remark about having an "assault rifle" war souvenir during the primary campaign when Dean was going off the anti-gun deep end and Kerry was posing as a Second Amendment supporter.

So he, not a staff member, did use the term "assault rifle". Probably the staff member responding to the magazine's questionnaire did a data search on Kerry's past responses and filled in the blanks.

So now the waffler has to waffle again, and again, and again, and ....

By the way, Kerry now has a firm position on Iraq. It is Kerry's Iraq Policy, Number 675478J/04, Revision 23.

It's really just the same sort of disingenuous (sp?) BS that Gore tried to use to show he's 'one of the guys'.

Like, "yeah, I got a Chinese assault rifle that I had a Seel rechamber in .50 BMG - that'll tear your arm off if a round just goes by close, ya know. Hardly recoils at all. Everybody in 'Nam had 'em. I duct taped a plastic water bottle over the muzzle, like Steven Segal did in that movie, really cuts the noise . . ."
