There has been a lot of heat (and limited light) on the idea that there is not a dimes worth of difference between Bush and Kerry as far as gun right goes.
Check this Kerry POV piece from his own web site out and tell me there won't be any change if Kerry actually makes it to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I love the "reasonable gun safety positions" line. In case you missed it, that is the new liberal and progressive code for gun control this election cycle. His "reasonable" ain't mine or probably yours either.
Every time you hear that phrase think AW ban, and eventually confiscation, as soon as he can issue an executive order for it. Then he'll be supported by liberal, activist judges that will refuse to hear any legal challenges to the order.
We're already fighting that battle now in all Democrat controlled Illinois if you think I'm using hyperbole. Last week the proposal was tabled indefinitely for actual confiscation of all Daley defined "assault weapons".

"Fighting to Reauthorize and Strengthen the Assault Weapons Ban"
"John Kerry stood up to the gun lobby to pass the assault weapons ban and the Brady Bill. This assault weapons law is soon set to expire under George W. Bush. We need a President who will fight to keep assault weapons off our streets and out of our communities. John Kerry has the courage to stand up to the NRA, one of the most powerful special interests in the country, which is fighting tooth and nail against reasonable gun safety protections and against renewal of the assault weapon ban. One in five law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty were killed with assault weapons."
Versus GWB saying he will sign the AWB "if" it comes to his desk.
Yeah, there's no difference at all in their positions that I can see.
So all of you gun owners might as well just stay home and be disappointed this election because you don't have the ideal gun rights candidate. Don'e waste your time. Leave the election up to other folks. 4 years of John Kerry, followed by Hillary will have no measurable effect on our rights anyway.
