We are very aware of these facts, so the question is: how can we convince the politicians this? Dd

John Kerry's ''sensible gun control'' not working in Great Britain
http://www.ohioccw.org/article2419.html

In its endorsement of John Kerry for President, the Brady bunch/Million Mom March have adopted a strategy suggested by Monster.com's Andrew McKelvey (founder of Americans For Gun Safety [AGS]) - to hide their gun control agenda in language designed to fool gun owners.

McKelvey knows "gun control" doesn't sell, and thus has always tried to avoid being called that, saying it turns off a large portion of the population who reject interference. And the Kerry campaign is listening, and has attempted to cloak his anti-gun past with photo shoots and McKelvey-style gun control language.

The billionaire (McKelvey) first became interested in doing something about guns after a spate of school shootings during the Clinton years.

His first step was to donate a sizable chunk of money to the legal and research arm of gun control group Handgun Control, recently retread as the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

But the more he got involved in the group, he says, the more convinced he became the words "handgun control" were harmful and that a more moderate approach was needed.

According to Newsweek, he committed more than $12 million toward the creation of AGS. And a Reuters story once stated that McKelvey has never even owned a gun.

No matter what they call it, the end goal is the same - banning civilian firearms ownership. And in that, these anti-gun extremists know they have a friend in Democrat Senator John Kerry.

The latest glimpse into how "sensible gun control" work at combat crime comes to us from two cities in Great Britain, where six people were shot in the space of an hour in three separate and unrelated shootings in London and Bristol last Saturday. Police say they do not believe the incidents are related.

Despite having banned all civilian ownership of handguns in 1997, the Victims of Crime Trust now say gun crime in the UK is "out of control". As Dr. John Lott recently noted, the government just reported that gun crime in England and Wales nearly doubled in the four years from 1998-99 to 2002-03. The serious violent crime rate soared by 64%, and overall violent crime by 118%. The violent crime rate in England and Wales now stands at twice the rate of that in the U.S.

Yet time and again, John Kerry has voted for the same gun control laws here that are failing so terribly in England.

A quick visit to the Americans for Gun Safety website will let the visitor know that they aren't the least bit concerned for firearms safety. There is no information on the website about the proper handling of firearms, safety practices on the range, or anything of the kind.

A review of their legislative priorities will confirm the truth - this is yet another group devoted to taking firearms out of the hands of the innocent, in a futile attempt to prevent criminals from obtaining them.

It hasn't worked in Australia, Great Britain, Canada, and it won't work here. One candidate for President knows this, and one clearly does not.

What do you mean it's "not working"? The good people are disarmed; it's working just fine.

Yup, what he said!

The gun-control movement is about "control", not guns.
