Ciener still has an active website I believe, but is he still in business and reliable? I need to buy an extra 22 LR magazine for my 1911A1 22 Conversion Kit. Anyone have a spare magazine for sale by chance?

Will a CMMG mag work ?

In a 1911?

22 LR magazine for my 1911A1 22 Conversion Kit.

Kimber, Advantage Arms, Sig and I’m forgetting another one make conversion kits and 1911 magazines for them, perhaps one could fit yours.

But really, calling up Ciener will get a reliable answer fastest.

Chiappa. They also make plastic mags that fit a 1911 mag well. They do not drop free however.

Can't comment on current sales, but his Commander and full length conversion units for 1911's are some of the most accurate .22 handguns I've fired. Keeping the chamber clean is the secret to good reliability. IIRC, Colt magazines work with 1911 conversions. Best Regards, Rod

His product that I purchase worked correctly. His problem was plain rudeness that extended to his staff. My firing pin broke and they were willing to sell me a replacement unit and as the buffers wear out faucet washers seem to work well. I really do not know what his problem was.
They seem to be in business.

Rod:
Are you saying that the Colt 22lr will work with the Ciner conversion on my 1911A1? That could be the answer to my quest if they work.
Thanks,

I visited his shop ONCE.

I went with a bud after I let my Colt kit slip away in a bad deal for a Blue Sky M1 Rifle ... real bad deal that.

I wanted to talk to "the man" before buying a kit. He was just nasty and had none in stock at the time.

Made me regret not having taken up the deal I was offered earlier in The Powder Horn in San Antonio Texas. Nice talk with Bob Day, but he had stopped making the Day Conversion unit by then and did show me a not for sale 30X unit (drool). His then current machinist offered to make me a Standard Day unit as a special order, he had made the last several units. Being a struggling college student at the time (and not even sure we would have money enough to get home to Florida (and on the way back after a night in NOLO we had only the $20 emergency money in an envelope taped to the back of the sun visor) I declined the oportunity. Should have sold my Buddy for parts and stolen his car and ordered the Day Unit. I told him not to order beer in that NOLO strip joint!

I do miss having the ability to drop a .22LR slide and mag into my .45 ACP

Loaded round: Sorry, I was wrong, I've checked my mags and my son's mags and the Colt mags are different when compared to Ciener's. Didn't mean to lead you astray...I also have a Marvel .22 Top Unit which does use Colt mags. Rod

I have a Kimber conversion that runs on a Colt lower; even after sending it back, they blamed the problems on Colt.
Turns out, the magazines were just sitting too high, and slowing down the slide. Filed the mag catch notches a little higher, and the functioning problems went away. The unit shoots really straight; might be worth a thought.

Things like this are why I no longer like Ryan Homes or Kimber.

Or IBM or Linux for that matter......

Or girls with blue hair and/or tattoos.....

In the race to be different - all it does is make problems.

I do have to say thanks for the info about the Kimber/Colt thing though since I have a Ceiner unit I use on my Kimber and am following this thread to see where & how difficult it may be to get another magazine for it.

I've always wanted to order his High Power conversion. But I had always read that he's unreliable. I might be able to deal with his rudeness. But I'm not sure that I want to wait two years for product that is paid for. Unfortunately, he's still the only game in town for a High Power conversion.

Any feedback on his recent reliability?

Never dealt directly with Ciener but his 1911 conversions are excellent. I put thousands of rounds through mine that first summer. The 15rd mags are great.

Only other conversion I have that holds more than 10rds is the Beretta.
