I bought a used JP PSC-11 upper from a pawnshop some time ago and finally got around to thoroughly cleaning it, including removal of a great deal of copper buildup. My question is, with good quality .223 match ammo, this upper is turning in consistent sub-MOA 5-shot groups all day long. I can still beat it with my Savage bolt-rifle but not by much (the Savage bolt rifle has turned in 5-shot groups less than 0.5 MOA)

It's probably my own little match going on between a premium semi-auto and a production bolt-action rifle but, should I expect more from the JP? It cost a lot more than the Savage but, I guess, in a Zombie invasion it might have qualities that add to it's value.

How far inside 1-MOA can a precision AR15 consistently get is my question?

From what I have seen with good ammo the JP rifles shoot sub 1/2 moa. Unfortunately I don't yet have one myself but hope to some day. I have seen reports of 1/4 moa from them but that will take a very dedicated shooter and handloader to shoot that well. On JP's website they have "what our customers think" where one claimed a .083" group at 100 yards, 3 shot. Don't know if that can really be trusted or not.

Here is a link to an article where John Paul said he shot his personal record of a .106" group with a PSC-11.

What match ammo have you tried in it?

I would expect them to be 1/2" guns with factory ammo and closer to 1/4" with a well tuned handhold. I've shot a couple that friends own and both were really accurate.

The only "match" ammo I have is Black Hills 69 grain Matchking hollow point factory reloads. I just haven't had time to become a reloader yet but, as retirement approaches, I'll have more time than money :)

They can be really, really good. My setup may be slightly different than yours, 24" bull barrel, built from ground up for best accuracy. I am consistently in the sub .300 moa. in my hands, strapped in to rifle vise it shot a .488 group at 400 yards. As others have suggested try some different match ammo as you can, along with different weight bullets. Mine shots very well with any match ammo but just loves Hornady 75 gr. bthp bullets. The trigger can also make a difference as well, what are you using?

Trigger is a Hyperfire, can't recall the particular model right now but it's a pretty darn nice AR15 trigger. The lower is not JP, it's a SanTan billet lower with a rifle tube, JP silent capture spring and PRS stock.

The scope is one I call into question, I'll be replacing it in the near future.

And of course, the shooter is always called into question.
