Ive heard a few of you say Rudy is the worst, gun grabber etc and that Obama 'isnt bad because he voted against gun grabbing in NO'.

But dont forget he was an IL state senator, and I can show you some things he said :

Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality
I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer's lobby. But I also believe that when a gangbanger shoots indiscriminately into a crowd because he feels someone disrespected him, we have a problem of morality. Not only do ew need to punish thatman for his crime, but we need to acknowledge that there's a hole in his heart, one that government programs alone may not be able to repair.

Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions

* Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
* Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
* Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. Voting YES would:

* Exempt lawsuits brought against individuals who knowingly transfer a firearm that will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime
* Exempt lawsuits against actions that result in death, physical injury or property damage due solely to a product defect
* Call for the dismissal of all qualified civil liability actions pending on the date of enactment by the court in which the action was brought
* Prohibit the manufacture, import, sale or delivery of armor piercing ammunition, and sets a minimum prison term of 15 years for violations
* Require all licensed importers, manufacturers and dealers who engage in the transfer of handguns to provide secure gun storage or safety devices

After reading this some time ago, I think Obama is the WORST of the 08 dem's. Edwards is a moderate (avoids 2a issues) and Richardson is of course great on the 2A.

Well this is common knowledge. Are you suggesting that we vote for Obama over Rudy?

At one point Obama voted against the bill saying it was alright to confiscate guns during times of national emergency.

Either way I am voting Libertarian so this matters little to me as my party is Pro-gun but more importantly they are Pro-Liberty.

Well, in an earlier thread, several posters made it sound like he was the least worst of the bunch and it when it came to crunch time theyd vote for him.
Or so it sounded like.

Im with you, I am a Libertarian but I know most people here are more conservative or republican.

I was the one that noted his vote against gun confiscations during crises. And yes, I consider him the "least bad" of the three poll choices in that thread (him, Giuliani, Clinton), but it's a pretty big (and incorrect) stretch from there to think that I'd actually vote for him under any circumstances.

I'd vote for almost anyone over that gutless wonder Barack Obama. Even Hillary, Rudy, and McCain would be better than him. (not that I'd back either of those three - I wouldn't)

Why do you consider barack a "gutless wonder"?

Personally, I find the idea that any black man would support gun confiscation unfathomable. But then again, we have Jesse james and Al sharpton to consider...

Right now there are two acceptable pro-2A candidates, a Democrat who has a genuine chance of getting the nomination and whose candidacy is picking up steam--Bill Richardson--and a terrific 2A Republican candidate who is a much longer shot--Ron Paul.

I would like to tack on a reminder that Sarah Brady would make a really, really bad choice for President.

Obama voted "present" on several measures while he was a state senator. That's why he's a gutless wonder.

While some conservatives and Republicans surely will harp on what they call his "liberal record," highlighting applicable votes to support their case, it's Obama's history of voting "present" in Springfield--even on some of the most controversial and politically explosive issues of the day--that raises questions that he will need to answer. Voting "present" is one of three options in the Illinois Legislature (along with "yes" and "no"), but it's almost never an option for the occupant of the Oval Office.

We aren't talking about a "present" vote on whether to name a state office building after a deceased state official, but rather about votes that reflect an officeholder's core values.
For example, in 1997, Obama voted "present" on two bills (HB 382 and SB 230) that would have prohibited a procedure often referred to as partial birth abortion. He also voted "present" on SB 71, which lowered the first offense of carrying a concealed weapon from a felony to a misdemeanor and raised the penalty of subsequent offenses.

In 1999, Obama voted "present" on SB 759, a bill that required mandatory adult prosecution for firing a gun on or near school grounds. The bill passed the state Senate 52-1. Also in 1999, Obama voted "present" on HB 854 that protected the privacy of sex-abuse victims by allowing petitions to have the trial records sealed. He was the only member to not support the bill.

In 2001, Obama voted "present" on two parental notification abortion bills (HB 1900 and SB 562), and he voted "present" on a series of bills (SB 1093, 1094, 1095) that sought to protect a child if it survived a failed abortion. In his book, the "Audacity of Hope," on page 132, Obama explained his problems with the "born alive" bills, specifically arguing that they would overturn Roe v. Wade. But he failed to mention that he only felt strongly enough to vote "present" on the bills instead of "no."

They are all bad. Rudy, Romny, Clinton Obama all terrible. May as well discuss what brand of .357 bullet you want to get shot with.

I am a Libertarian who voted Republican last time. I feel sick and ashamed. I will not vote for what I consider the lesser of two evils. I will just vote my conscience and my heart which are with the Libertarian party.

Despite being a Libertarian, I could be swayed to vote for Richardson or Thompson. That's a win-win presidential for 2a rights right there.

Enough already.........We all know Obama is Stalin reincarnated and that if elected he will plunder and burn your village, kill your livestock, rape your women, and sell the Statue of Liberty to China  . I doubt that there are any members here that would even consider voting for him so preaching to the choir applies. Lets at least wait till the primaries before we start ranting about what terrible things will happen when a canidate gets into office two years from now. Besides my money is on Obama not getting the party nomination anyway.

sad to say but people are going to vote for obama just because he is "black" and people are going to vote for hiliary just because she is a "woman" i tell alot of people this, i tell thime i will not vote for him because he is black but because of his non stance on any issue basically, he is "for and against" just about every thing, I hate to see our country's president being voted into office for a superfical reason ie. hiliary makes it because she is a woman.....not because she is a good canidit.
