For either of them, basically "stock" guns, with irons and a good red dot on a QD lever mount, a good 2 point sling, and a paint job.

Classic all the way for the AK clone, I hate the the look of the all black poly ones. But give me an AR with all the bells and whistles that will fit on em

Had to look that one up. It didn't help.
I just mean that the original post kind of presents an either-or choice between (1) an absolutely basic rifle with nothing on it but iron sights, or (2) a ridiculously over-accessorized rifle with several pounds of useless junk attached, and I don't think that's accurate. There is a middle ground, where the rifle is fitted with a few well-thought-out accessories that make sense for what you want to do with it.

For example, my AR wears a light, a sling, an optic, an adjustable stock, and an aftermarket charging handle to make it easier to charge with the support hand. For the way I use it, every one of those things makes sense, and taking any of them away would handicap the rifle in some way. However, my rifle doesn't have anything on it that *I* don't use (no VFG, no laser, no battery storage compartments, no quad rail). Somebody else might have a use for those things, but I personally don't need them, so they're not on my rifle.

I prefer classic. I am trained old school point and shoot. Extra stuff just gets in the way. But I am not against against that stuff for someone else. But the guns I get passionate about are blued and wood.

I believe I am somewhere in the middle. I recently put together an AR and I am still accessorizing. It came in the flattop configuration with a six position stock. I installed a flip up rear sight. I am waiting on my sling to be delivered & I intend on putting a red dot on it. Once I get the red dot put on I believe I will be pretty much done unless something comes up that makes me aware it would be a good idea to add something else.

I'll go for practical.

If that's a bare-bones M4 or an AK with an extended rail, then so be it. Whatever accomplishes what I need done.

I go classic every time. A nice m1a or garand, enfield, even a mosin, would be my go to if i really needed it to go bang and hit my target with some authority.

To me, it really depends on what kind of weapon. Modern firearms made with the intent to be tacticoolized like ARs, then yeah tacticool do-dads are fine. But now classic old wood and steel military rifles, to include the kalash, even if it's a more modern one w/ synthetic furniture, are best left as they are...
