Well, last weekend I was finally able to talk my buddy out of a beautiful Pre-64 Winchester Model 94. He's been keeping this gun in his closet for years and has never shot it and I have been after it for most of that time. The gun is immaculate. The wood is beautiful and the metal work is excellent, no noticeable dings at all. I have another Pre-64 Model 94 that I hunt with but this one eclipses it by far. This one was made in 1962. Hopefully the photos will show some of it's beauty.

I have a 1958 model. Mine has been used enough to have a few minor character marks, but this looks like new. Good find.

Well you're right about the wood and the metal being in first rate condition for a gun that's over 50 years old.

Now you need to take it out and put it to some use like it was originally intended for.

Wow! That's just beautiful! As pretty as that is, I hope you take her hunting. Great find and have fun shooting it.

Wow... price doesn't matter for a pre-'64 with wood like that... in my opinion anyway. That is some really pretty wood and to have it paired up with a rifle that's been cared for like that one... just... wow. Congratulations on a beautiful rifle! Shoot it!

I have what I consider to be a pristine 1941 Model 94 with nearly perfect bluing, but that rifle you have is far nicer! My wood is nothing like that either... enjoy!

That's the nicest pre64 I've ever seen Tex! Are going to use it or just keep as an investment?

sweet!
I hope the bore got oiled now and then.
What cartridge is it chambered for?

What they said. Simply gorgeous figuring in that furniture.

I had a 1922 '94 in 30WCF with so much great character, but it wouldn't shoot well. Since I couldn't justify turning it into a wall-hanger and since only accurate rifles are interesting, I sold it and rolled the dough into a sweet wheelgun. My .357 and .44 '92s, a X 39 bolt carbine and a .308 Scout cover the .30-30 slot for me these days.

The stock shows exceptional grain pattern and very attractive. Thanks for sharing.

About 15 years ago, I traded in an old 1920-ish 94 that had been neglected by a relative. In the trade, I rec'd a NEW 94 angle-eject Legacy model with deluxe walnut stock, checkering, and curved lever. I mounted a Leupold 2-7X scope and she shoots all shots into 2 inch groupings at 100 yards. My best trade ever!

You got yourself a beauty, that's for sure. I love the M94 and my first one was a pre-64.

I have a 1972 Winchester M-94 in 30-30. It has a lot of wear on the wood and red freckles on the receiver, typical of a post 94 winchester.

Were I the owner of the OP's new acquisiton, I would be afraid to take it out of the house.

Mine could be used to paddle a boat or as jack handle without doing any damage to it's appearance, but it still shoots as accurately as I can hold it.

I am colored purple jealous. Nice acquisition.
